They aren't really, it's just that the best defense in this series has always been to delude yourself. Crab literally twists her career to fit him, and Araragi (no, attempting to learn a new language without first attempting to communicate better with your girlfriend in some half baked plan is not a good thing, especially when he is endangering his life getting further involved with oddities). The fact she could make the plans for her company to make a division just for her to command back in Japan before he even formulates his plans to get back with her means the guy is dragging his feet hard in the relationship with a girl he so called plans to marry.

Further, Gahara accepts it? She loves Hanekawa and even dense Araragi still feels the tension Gahara shows when he is with Cat. There is no way she has no apprehension over Shinobu in the future of her relationship with Araragi if even her best friend gives her apprehension, the same best friend who likely tells her over and over she is on her side and supports their relationship. Shinobu has already shown negative thoughts on Hitagi.

So no, it's just swept under the rug until it explodes later on, or the characters delude themselves that despite their apprehensions, their partner is loyal to them. Araragi just has his cake and eats it too in this situation, but isn't man enough to see how much the people in his life are stretching to suit his selfishness.

Saying you'll kill yourself if another girl dies while proclaiming you are loyal to your girlfriend and plan to marry her is the height of delusion. What would he tell his wife and kids (if they have them) if Shinobu died? "Sorry senpai, I promised, gotta kill myself!" What a joke.

It's more that she took care of Araragi's problems all in one fell swoop. He was a dumb ass in how he handled Nadeko, so he threatened the lives of his family and friends by almost becoming permanent full vamp in his own right, so she killed him and revived him as a human, to which he proceeds to almost die again stupidly dealing with Ougi if not for Hanekawa.

Then we have the fact that he stupidly ended up taking Hachikuji out of Hell, but that ended up being the thing that saved the town from becoming permanently distorted thanks to again, his own selfish and silly decisions.

So his moronic decisions are often softened by the fact he has reliable collaborators and an overpowered vamp on his side.
