We have no idea what Ange and Princess' goals are. What we know is that they already had the switcheroo that the Commonwealth is planning to make, Ange trusts Princess enough to entirely blow her fucking cover up to her (and thus believes she's not working for the enemy), and Princess took this opportunity by herself to join the Commonwealth and become a spy leader there.

For all we know, Princess could be a double agent for the Kingdom, in which case she's highly skilled considering her current position, or she could have been honest with Ange and start working for the Commonwealth because she was sick of the Kingdom, or she could have her own plans to fuck up both sides and claim the throne by herself.

We'll see if her scheme involves backstabbing Ange.

the dialogue might have been mediocre, but the anime actually developed its plot fairly well for a mystery/spy thriller, making sure to follow all the rules of both so the audience doesn't feel like idiots when the reveal occurs

The action direction, cinematography and animation are all top notch. Furthermore they managed to capture part of the appeal of cold war spy thrillers, which was impressive considering the steampunk/fantasy setting for the series. Yes the dialogue was iffy, but I think it was needed to be like that just to introduce the personality of the characters to introduce you to everyone quickly.

If you wanted to make a good objection object to the fact the character designs basically dictate the personalities of the characters. I mean I knew what tropes each of these girls were just by looking at the artwork.
