Do you have the LN quote/context for that? I see this posted every now and then that Araragi finds its disgusting/creepy. Those are pretty strong words considering how much Araragi likes Hanekawa and considers her a friend.

To me it seems like:

1. He's kinda scared of her in the same way her parents kinda hate her. The mask she puts on as a person, AKA who Araragi sees in Kizu is just too perfect of a person. The Kizu movies and LN make it pretty clear that he can't believe someone like this actually exists, and that she's more of a monster than the exorcists.

2. Stemming from that, Araragi also puts her too much on a pedestal. She's his saviour, first and probably best friend. As well, she's an object of his lust, as his first encounter with her is literally her panties. All of this kinda put getting together aside... until he meets Senjougahara and gets with her first.

3. In contrast with Gahara, Hanekawa's mask is super apparent. There's such a huge contrast between the way Araragi holds the conversation with Gahara in episode 3 of Bake(before meeting snail) where she breaks down and points out all of her flaws. Compare to Hanekawa in Kizu where Araragi can only basically worship her.

I think if Hanekawa didn't have so a perfect mask on(i.e. who she is after Neko:Shiro) and went after Araragi, he wouldn't say no. Even in Nise Gahara is scared that Hanekawa can take Araragi from her.

Man the entire fucking SERIES is about the general complications and benefits of companionship, Araragi literally states the theme of the entire franchise in Kizu 1 when he talks about not wanting friends because you feel bad when they feel bad and such, friends often are a burden but are also a source of great joy.

What Araragi did was the only reasonable thing to do for him, if he had outright killed Shinobu and denied any attempt at companionship it would contradict everything he stands for, and contradict what the entire series is about. Plus in the end Shinobu obviously cares for him and remains by his side willingly anyway, only by pretty much enslaving her and bringing her down could he actually force her to endure human companionship and also come to appreciate its benefits, he is doing her a favour whether she wanted to die or not. Shinobu was a fucking monster before Araragi "tamed" her and brought her down to a semi-human level.

I think tagging along in Araragi's adventures certainly contributed to her eventual appreciation for human companionship, I use the word "tame" lightly but being tied down to Araragi definitely had an effect on her, she is no longer the same Shinobu that was devouring humans by the end of the series.

That's not what she fucking appreciates. She likes being with Araragi, something Kiss-Shot made very apparent in Kizumonogatari. She wants to be with Araragi, spend time with him, spend it together and learn and understand him better. Shinobu found happiness in the one person that saved her. Through the series she begins the value his pressence more then anything. Trowing away her pride as a vampire, acting as a child because she wants to be spoiled by him and willingly restore the connection.

I haven't read the novels so this is lost on me but thats interesting. What were the 2 sins she absorbed we've seen animated so far? I have a hunch but might be way off the mark, its also been a while since I've seen Neko Kuro/Shiro and they were not my favorite arcs either actually.

But future Hanekawa sounds really awesome, a kind of Paragon of Virtue compared to Ararargi being a simple prefectural police officer.

It was a bunch of things really. Envy, Tigers are usually symbols of Pride, and Wrath because it represented her anger and resentment. They missed this in the anime, but Nadeko ran away from Hanekawa in Bake because she felt Kako's heat, it was mentioned Nadeko Medusa.

Although I doubt Hanekawa will spawn anything else, if Nisio went the Sins route, it would likely focus on the two oddities she has inside. I think Nisio makes it quite clear that Kako and the Sawarineko weren't eliminated or exorcised, with her hair being what shows it.

I think suruga bonehead, tsukihi undo, karen ogre, nadeko draw besides musubi are all after hana. Possibly shinobumonogatari as well. Who knows if they'll be adapted though.
