Just got done watching the episode and some shit stuck out to me.
Within the context of the show, how would they even write a spell designed to gauge acceptance into their own story?
I thought Meteora using the spell was a quick, simply demonstration that they were making headway introducing new abilities by using one. But whilst she was doing that, this shit is also literally a barometer for how successful their efforts are.
That seems like lazy, boring writing that doesn't even make much sense considering how horrible a meta-self-aware mechanic like that would be written into any story, and that's what they're doing: writing a story.
Second, what the fuck was up with Magane's body? Looked like some amateurish Cartoon Network shit.

This. At least with Aldnoah I watched the first three episodes and thought it might be mildly entertaining all around.
The writing in Re:Creators is unforgivable shit and I regret having to suffer through the first three episodes. The premise is intriguing but the execution precludes any and all suspension of disbelief. Most anime has two-dimensional characters - they have proper motivation and reasonably fleshed-out backstories but fail to mimic the depth of a real human being. Re:Creators actually manages to portray its in-universe fictional characters as one-dimensional - their only defining traits are their (terribly cliched) personalities and the fact that they all POSSESS backstories - not that any of them are matter or are even expanded upon beyond mentioning the title of the work they hail from or introducing their creator. Whereas in anime I typically have a hard time believing fictional characters are real human beings, in Re:Creators I have trouble believing fictional characters are actual fictional characters.
The other major gripe I had was how rather than consciously explorer or even stumble upon interesting ideas, this show seems to just walk over them without ever realizing they were there. Meteora's famous infodump (her first one and the only one I have had the pleasure of suffering through) seemed to raise some interesting points for dialogue which the rest of the cast promptly ignored. What are the differences between living in a mobage (which I imagine Meteora originates from) and living in the real world? What does she mean by our world offering so much freedom? Did her existence so far compromise of just picking out options from a menu and keeping track of casualized RPG gameplay? I'd wager we'll never know.
Also Altair is the most cringeworthy character I have ever seen in anime. Ever. I know it's kind of intentional.
So, does the writing get any better? If the show is decent later on I'd love to shitpost with you guys.

The creator is relatively annoying while also appearing to be quite chill and down to earth when not. So I don't think I dislike him.
A big difference with the medium is that VNs thrives on what-ifs. You can in theory make what-ifs for books and regular games too, but the difference is that VNs thrives on what-ifs normally as is. So adding additional what-ifs even if they're a little more far fetched, is usually received quite well.
