Why there is a huge number of shoujo manga that have rape scenes? It's for drama or japanese girls are into that kind of shit?
>>
>>159855992
Thats her brother right?

I made this chart draft, give feedback.
>>
>>159856849
He's not raping her there. he wants to die with her.

>>159856860
Yup.
>>
>>159857180
Nice taste.
>>
>>159856849
Girls think they won't be seen as sluts if all sex is against their will.
>>
>>159857180
Better than I expected but I'd rather see a more condensed chart without the mediocre titles. And you should probably remove the seinen manga.
>>
>>159857689
>the seinen manga
Which?
>>
>>159855992
>>159799645
>>
>>159857747
Bitter virgin for sure, might be more I can't recognize
>>
>>159857180
separate josei and shoujo and/or make separate list for one volume long titles
add mangaka
maybe add borders to images.

remove 'Free Soul' - its shit
remove 'Hoshi Shinichi' - no real reason to recommend anthologies
remove 'Hiatari Ryoukou' - its shit
remove 'Junji Itou Manga Collection' - it isnt the kind of manga people will look for in shoujo rec chart
>>
>>159857887
Huh, didn't realize that. Will do.

>>159857922
>separate josei and shoujo
>add mangaka
>maybe add borders to images.
Alright.

>remove 'Hoshi Shinichi' - no real reason to recommend anthologies
>remove 'Junji Itou Manga Collection' - it isnt the kind of manga people will look for in shoujo rec chart
I don't really buy this reasoning, seems arbitrary, particularly the second. There's a pretty decent-sized shoujo/josei horror niche, I don't think it's fair to remove that stuff just because it doesn't fit the mold. If there's consensus, I'll obey, but for now I'm keeping those.

I'll cut out the other two. Looking at it now, I could definitely prune a bit like >>159857689 said, so I'll do that.
>>
I'm curious

that is the biggest trainwreck shoujo? I'm talking about blantant NTR, extreme misunderstandings, eternal suffering, etc.
>>
Does anyone read this?

>girl in love with her childhood friend
>she's a princess, he's a noble
>wants permission to marry him, forbidden
>he kills her father the king, then tries to kill her
>is saved by her other childhood friend
>becomes reverse harem but with clear end
>decent action scenes, girl isn't useless except at the beginning
>also shippable yuri
>>
>>159857689
>>159858281
I'm going to try to remember my favourites to give you some more ideas, keep this thread alive for a couple hours.
>>
>>159858470
It's good but also pretty vanilla and inoffensive. Unless the mangaka makes Hak not win at this point nobody will get mad.
>>
>>159858470
I really enjoy the setting desu. the recent chapter where she stared down the king was pretty cool.

I wonder how long the mangaka is going to continue it? It feels like the story still has a ways to go, but it's been going strong for 8 years now.
>>
>>159858281
Alright, I went through it and made a list of things to cut.
9-banme no Musashi
Drunken Dream
Akuma no Hanayome
Bitter Virgin
Free Soul
Hiatari Ryoukou
Jyu-Oh-Sei
Last Game
Marmalade Boy
Ogeha
Sailor Moon
Shinrei Tantei Yakumo
Skip Beat
Shiki no Zenjitsu
Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii (double-checked, it doesn't seem to have a demographic)
X

Which do people want to keep between Fruits Basket and Itazura na Kiss? I feel like it's a bit redundant to have both. And out of the fantasy-adventures, which would you like cut? I'm leaning toward Red River, but maybe another should go, too.
>>
>>159858845
Red River is fine if you can stand the male love rival being an asshole and getting away with everything and a really boring, but thankfully short, final arc.
>>
>>159858281
Add Usotoki Rhetoric and Hot Road for shoujo and Seigi no Mikata (HIJIRI Chiaki) for josei.
>>
>>159858928
It's not that I hate it, it's just that between Basara, Crystal Dragon, Itihasa, Kanata Kara, Kujira no Kora, Rayearth, Meteor Methuseleh, Pygmalio, and Red River, I think something needs to go if we're condensing this.

>>159859069
Hot Road is there. I haven't read the other two, but Usotsuki was getting praise in the other thread, so I might add that. Hijiri's the Heptagon woman, right? I considered that but didn't add it, how does this compare?
>>
>>159858691

Setting is underutilized IMO, but then again I like Tolkien-tier setting development.

>>159858552

>vanilla and inoffensive

How can you say that when there's the implication that 3 of the dragons will die very young? Their predecessors were dead by what, 35? It actually disturbs me. Jae-ha is already 25.

There's also the question of whether Hak will kill Soo-won or not. Given the mangaka she probably wouldn't. Are they just gonna be wanderers the rest of their lives, or confront Soo-won? I don't even see how they could have a co-rule agreement worked out since Soo-won said Hak killed the king and that they're both dead.

I heard a fantheory that Soo-won and Yona are both half of the reincarnation of Hiryuu. How the dragons reacted to him and how competent a ruler he is also lends credence to it. That would be interesting.

Also Yun is best boy.
>>
>>159857180

How does Natsume Yuujinchou count as shoujo? In that case Ghibli movies are also shoujo?

I kind of want full moon o sagashite included. I also feel Sailor Moon could be excluded. It's overrated, CCS is the better classic, and everyone and their mom already knows about it so no need to put it on a chart.
>>
>>159859422
yeah, I hope we get more of Yona and her dragons travelling the world. The manga is at it's best when Yona is unfucking other peoples shit. I really loved the chapters where she helped modernize the fire tribe village and completely healed the fire prince.
>>
>>159859273
I'm biased towards the fantasy shoujo genre to be fair.

That said, the list is missing Swan. Glass Mask is the only representative of "sports shoujo" in it.
>>
>>159859549
It runs in a shoujo magazine. Manga are often categorized as what magazine they run in and not what content they actually have.
>>
>>159859549
>How does Natsume Yuujinchou count as shoujo? In that case Ghibli movies are also shoujo?
What. Do you know how demographics work? It's in a shoujo magazine.

> I also feel Sailor Moon could be excluded
Already on the cut-list, >>159858845.

>Full Moon o Sagashite
That's another one I considered but discarded. Don't think I'm going to add it when we're already downsizing, unless others really want it.

>>159859621
>Swan
Oh, shit, I forgot about that. Not much translated, though, but I might add it anyway, it was really nice.
>>
>>159859273
My bad, didn't realize it was there already. Usotoki is a really good series about solving mysteries with a small supernatural twist. Slow-paced, mostly episodic, but keeps the continuity. The characters are very charming, especially Kanoko and Iwai.

About the other series, yes it's that Hijiri. Compared to Heptagon, it's more of a comedy about two sisters. The older one is a terrible person that unknowingly brings good fortune to everyone, and the younger one who has to deal with her personality and fickle wishes. The humor is spot on and never gets old in my opinion.

For josei Chikutaku Bonbon is adorable too, but sadly translations have been halted for a while.

>>
is ogeha anything other than creepy alien abuse fetish shit?
>>
>>159860228
Ogeha is a mystery series, the mystery being why the fuck the author created the manga in the first place.
>>
>>159860190
That screenshot traumatized me right now.

>>159860228
It was sort of interesting beyond the fetish aspect just because the guy was so weird, but that's about it. Weird creepy alien abuse.

>>159859422
Hasn't Jae-Ha already had a few death flags lately?
>>
>>159859597

I liked Awa and Suiko. Not liking this Xing arc. I realize not everything can be Mushishi but I wish it would show more day-to-day traveling and world details. The world feels sort of shallow and barren as it is.

Please don't say that. Other people say this. You are all wrong. Out of all the characters, she cannot kill my favorite. Stop. I have few enough reasons to live.

Anytime that I have a favorite character in any series they tend to die... This really is hell, isn't it?
>>
>>159860758
I mean, I don't think she will actually end up killing any of the main cast, apart from Soo-won of course.
>>
>>159857180
No Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu?
>>
>>159861318
I think stuff like Onii-sama e... or that doen't belong on the list because you're better off watching their anime adaptations. Not a lot of shoujo has COMPLETE and also decent anime adaptations so they're special.
>>
>>159861484
Onii-sama improved the manga, except for the freudian slip of train-kun, the lesbian killer

I didn't include that because dead scans after ten chapters, but now that I've added Swan I don't really have an excuse, do I?

>>159861484
The manga's still good, I think it's worth including.

Anyway, this is what it looks like now (I should still add the author's names, I know).
>>
>>159861907
Also, obvious formatting issues (title not being centered now, things being overcropped, etc.) will be solved when done, so please ignore those.

Is that a new light novel?

I'd read it.
>>
>People actually read this and then complain about it on /a/?
Why do you do this to yourself? The boy looks like a rapist and he gropes her in their first encounter, the heroine is the usual girl who says no while she enjoys it.
>>
>>159861907
>no more input in the last hour
Alright, any other opinions here? If not, I'm probably going to cut All My Darling Daughters, Himitsu, Itazura na Kiss, and Red River, to give a round 40 shoujo, and then fix formatting and call it a day.
>>
>>159863803
Hang on, I just got back. I'll give it a closer look now.
>>
>>159863878
Alright.
>>
>>159861907
What about Fruits Basket?
>>
>>159864012
It's there, first in the second row.
>>
There's an old shoujo I remember really liking but i can't recall the name.

It's one where the lead female is a tomboy and lead male is a guy that transfers to her class that needs to pretend to be a girl until he graduates so that his dad will allow him to pursue an acting career
>>
>>159863878
Most of my favourites are included already but here's some more stuff I'd consider:
Toshokan Sensou: Love & War
PA - Private Actress
Hana no Namae
Akuma to Dolce
With!!
I also like Himitsu so hopefully you don't have to cut it.
And there's a few more that I just can't recall the names of at the moment.

Other things I want to mention but wouldn't necessarially include (come on guys, discuss something):
Hakuji
Takane to Hana
Furou Kyoudai
Shitsuji-sama no Okiniiri
Mademoiselle Butterfly
Itsuka Kimitachi mo Otona ni Naru
Colette wa Shinu Koto ni Shita
Koi Dano Ai Dano
Arakure
Anitomo

I'll get to the stuff on your list now.
>>
>>159864998
Also I might have overlooked it but is kare kano not on your list? That's definitely worth including.
>>
>>159864877

Is there just any list with all shoujo manga featuring borderline rapist male interests? I have a fetish to satisfy and I want all of them.

Birdcage mannor had an excellent scene. It's this guy who sometimes crossdresses. The girl goes on a "date" with him out of frustration with his cousin. They get in a car and she's changing out of her wet clothes, and remembers he's actually a guy, they had been holding hands the whole day. Very excellent almost sex scene. I for one masturbated to it.

It's three volumes, I recommend reading just for that scene.

>why not just read porn

Something something plot.
>>
>>159864998
i heard takane to hana has some drama in it, does anyone know what the drama is? i don't think it would go ntr light or something, it's not that kind of manga but i'm still worried
>>
>>159865344
Ah yes, thanks! I would suggest that one for as a good shoujo to try out

That fucked me up when I was younger
>>
>>159864055
Sorry, didn't notice.
I ragedropped many josei manga but I enjoyed Dokuhime and Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii
As for shoujo there is :
Sable Prince
Hana to Akuma
Ginzatoushi to Kuro no Yousei - Sugar Apple Fairytale
Karakuri Odette
Fushiginokuni no Arisugawa-san
Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare
Madame Petit

>>159864998
>Colette wa Shinu Koto ni Shita
We have a man of fine taste.
>>
>>159863964
>>159864998
Well it looks like you cut (or you plan to cut) most of the ones I had issues with already. The only 'bad' series that really sticks out is ore monogatari, that really needs to go.
I thought Banana Fish was mediocre at best, I guess you're just including it because it's a type of manga that's not common in shoujo manga?
As for the fantasy adventure manga, aside from Basara which is great the rest all have some issues, but I like fantasy adventure manga and it's hard to choose between them.
There's several series I've yet to read and I suspect that's the case for most posters. I think it would be nice to reconvene and discuss in a week or so once everyone has read the rest.

What's that? We have seen enough of the insufferable main trio and the love triangle? Good, now have this flashback about their parents and the third wheel, who not surprisingly look the same as their young successors. The loser even gets to raise her daughter too!
>>
>>159864998
>Toshokan Sensou
>Akuma to Dolce
Adding.
>PA - Private Actress
I never finished but I don't actually remember why. Maybe I'll skim a bit and try to remember if something pissed me off.
>Hana no Namae
>With!!
Haven't read these. Apparently they're from the same author, so I'm probably only adding one, please pick.

>>159865068
I didn't include KareKano because I feel like 90% of anons who read the manga wind up annoyed and angry over the rape stuff. If that's a vocal minority, though, I'd personally be fine adding it. Anyone else have opinions on that?

>>159865914
Oh, shit, now the opinions start up again.

>>159866072
> (or you plan to cut)
I might not cut those four now that there are more suggestions (we can just to 50 or whatever instead), so you should probably say which of them you disliked.
>I thought Banana Fish was mediocre at best, I guess you're just including it because it's a type of manga that's not common in shoujo manga?
Partially that, but I've also seen a lot of people who enjoyed it more than I did. I liked it more than Yasha, which is her other one people seem to like (aside from Umimachi, which gets glowing praise but isn't translated).
>There's several series I've yet to read and I suspect that's the case for most posters. I think it would be nice to reconvene and discuss in a week or so once everyone has read the rest.
This is a pretty good idea, I'll do that.

People can still give suggestions ITT, and I'll note them all, but I'm going to leave the chart itself as is for now and make another thread next weekend, so if you care then read some more stuff that's been suggested so you can give your input.
>>

It was alright but went nowhere. Ending was rushed. like you think they're gonna make some big statement, and it's just nah, you go ahead brah. Wasn't awful, just disappointing and a waste of a good premise.
>>
>>159866954
It was still cute as fuck.
>>
So I dropped Skip Beat years ago. Ren was being edgy, had to pretend to be Kyoko's brother or some shit. Has it progressed at all, or is it still shit?
>>
>>159866394
>Haven't read these. Apparently they're from the same author, so I'm probably only adding one, please pick.
It's been a long time since I read them, wait for someone else to give input or pick whichever one you end up liking more yourself.

Thank god. I knew that anon was wrong and people could recognize that Yuna is a miracle of the universe.

Also I've caught up on the raws now and I agree, Akari's ex was just to help with her character development. He doesn't show a shred of interest in her and is just there to give her a verbal smackdown. If he shows up for anything more than an acknowledge of Akari changing in the future I'll be surprised. Even Agatsuma has been shot down already.

I like the position both couples are in at the moment and unless bullshit happens Yuna and Rio should be confessing next chapter. Wonder how much longer the manga will run for.

LIFE should be on the list just to scare people, desu. Manami is a top tier antagonist.
