Why aren't there more Magical Girl anime?

Aren't there plenty?

Madoka ruined everything.

Its never been a huge genre outside of very young girls with only a few exceptions. PreCure currently dominates the hell out of the market so there isn't room for a whole lot of different shows except when they do something like Madoka.

Mahou shoujo fans are big cancer. They complain when shows targeted at little girls like Precure don't have excessive lewd and fanservice. Then they scream and cry that mahou shoujo like Madoka and Symphogear aren't "TRUE" mahou shoujo because they appeal to otaku.

What do you want more after all of these pinnacles of anime: Cardcaptor Sakura, Princess Tutu, Madoka, Shugo Chara, Mahou Tsukai Tai, Nanoha A's, Minky Momo, Saint Tail. Magical Girl is the genre where Japan reached perfection, several times.

I feel like more could be done with the genre, it's a shame that the shows that aren't explicitly for kids don't really explore the boundaries of it all that much, they just tend to go in a couple specific directions, especially post-Madoka.

That said I did really enjoy Magical Girl Raising Project and YuYu-however it is people shorten it.

I don't know in what particular I would want that's new, I've nothing to suggest, since I'm not the guy in charge of making anime.
