Sureau is a pretty shitty friend. Leaves his original party in the middle of an ongoing crisis and now chimps out before knowing the whole story that took place in his absence. He even made the same mistake again as they did on their first venture and neglected his personal well-being, becoming a liability to his comrades. Not to mention he enabled the brown sociopath to continue his holier-than-thou questline, who'd otherwise rest at the bottom of a lake now as snake food.

Laius' biggest mistake wasn't blabbing about the dark magic thing, it was letting Sureau into the party in the first place. Only good that'll come out of this is that ninja catgirl will end up joining the main party, if the one-shot is anything to go by.

> Leaves his original party in the middle of an ongoing crisis

To be fair, Laius and Co. were woefully unprepared to re-enter the dungeon, Sureau may have neglected his health once he was down there, but it's pretty sound reasoning to get another group + more supplies before rushing off. I mean, if the group hadn't met Senshi they would have definitely either died or be forced to turn back due to their lack of knowledge about dungeon food.

>>159836530

Honestly I think given some time to adjust he would be as okay with it as the main group are.

I mean, I imagine Chilcack or Laius would have had at least similar reactions had Marcille done it on her own.

He was probably in a hurry too? They had a finite amount of time before Farlyn was digested, Laius at least was adamant that they go back down right away.

I mean, the trip would have been long enough as it was, Sureau's group was only, what, 3/4 of the way down the dungeon at most, by that time, Laius's group had already killed the dragon, revived Farlyn, and started heading back from the abandoned city already.

>>159837952

> What exactly was dark about Marcilles magic?

I'd say, the fact that it was forbidden, as well as the fact that it apparently belongs to some kind of 'other' class of magic not in use today, as she mentioned with that whole 'taking magic from another dimension' thing. We don't exactly know what drawbacks it could have, especially considering how the flesh of the dragon changed Farlyn much more than Marcille intended, but obviously there's something dangerous enough about this kind of magic that it was locked away.

>>
>>159838111

Eh, not really, it's because of the mad sorcerer that the souls of the deceased remain trapped in the dungeon, healers just make use of the dungeons curse to shove peoples souls back inside of them, they're basically just exploiting the system.

They didn't exactly "ally" themselves with Orcs, they just traded some shit in return for information about shortcuts to the lower levels.

Also, as it is, I don't think Cabron really cares that much about Marcille's actions, he's mostly intent on ratting out Laius for the secretly evil person he wants him to be, if only to justify his untrusting nature.

All that Kabru knows is that they allied with the orcs and used forbidden magic. Eating monsters isnt really evidence of them being evil and he's doubting if they stole the treasure, if it can be called doubting and not him hatching up a plan.

>>
>>159840127

All that slave to the mad sorcerer shit was likely more just because of the nature of the dragon, all Marcilles spell is really capable of is reviving someone whose soul is already too far gone for normal revival spells.

If any normal healer was down there and Farlyn's soul was still strongly attached, I imagine they would have been able to revive her with the dragon without forbidden magic anyway.
>>
>>159840131

I imagine if Laius pushes the "It was the only way to revive her soul" + "It was the mad sorcerer who fucked up her body" + "Would you rather she stay dead forever?" angles then Sureau might come around.

>>

Why would it? It probably needs dismantling to be destroyed.
>>
>>159837952
She connected her body to the dungeons magic which indirectly hooked her up to the infinite magic dimension (Which is why she could do those cast free powerful spells) in order to jumpstart the resurrection process since her body didn't have enough energy left in it for the normal spell to take.

Using dragon meat didn't really fuck anything up technically. Dungeon monsters were confirmed to not have souls so no risk of soul mixing and the ressurection guys use animals to fill in missing mass all the time without issue. The others are just freaking out because using a monster for it is as disgusting as eating monsters to normal people.

The reason she's acting like a dragon now and doing its old mission is because the scorcerer believes her to be the dragon and is controling her through her connection to the dungeon.

Tldr; It's black magic because she essentially turned her into a dungeon monster.

It might not. Mad sorc doesnt create the creatures in the dungeon except maybe for the really high level ones that nobody will face anyways

>won't they also be hunted down by the elves or whoever it was that wants the secret wizard knowledge?

Of course, only reason why elves arent digging the dungeon themselves is that Mad Sorcerer is the baddest motherfucker in Meshiverse. Even now she could wipe the dungeon clean of interlopers if she didnt have better things to do. That stuff is too low level and way beneath her.

Actual elves hunting her might warrant her to act however
>>
>>159841028
Well technically the souls being trapped is the mad scorcerer's doing even if the rest of the dungeon isn't. With the mad scorcerer dead that spell will disappear and resurrection won't work and the undead in the upper levels will be gone.

Not saying dark magics are evil, just that for people who don't know jack shit about forbidden magic ((i.e everyone but Marcille)), it would definitely be concerning to see it used when you have no idea what the consequences may be.

He's clearly suffering from sleep deprivation in addition to starvation and half out of it since he tried to blitz the dungeon without stopping. >>
>>159841946

To be fair, Farlyn's body shouldn't have been digested if the dragon had stuck to it's usual pattern, the only reason it did was because the dragon was active again so soon after eating her.
>>
>>159841735
If it was the dragon flesh the meat they ate would have been forcibly exiting their bodies. Marcille forgot to turn the patch she added to the dungeon programming off which meant that when the Sorcerer showed up he yoinked the dungeon parts as usual which included Farlyn. I don't know why you didn't notice that when even Marcille had a panel/page indicating that she isn't sure that she forgot to turn that off and is really just hoping she did. Since we didn't see a panel of her turning the circle off nor was there time in the events we saw it stands to reason that Farlyn got yoinked because she was still considered part dungeon.

That only happens in D&D because magic/miracles are directly tied to the power of the actual gods which all exist as a prestated fact, so naturally there are some pretty obvious and objective moral guidelines. But I don't thing Dungeon Meshi will go that route as it seems to be divorcing magic from gods at all corners.
>>
>>159854161
Meshi is based off of Wizardry more than D&D. I don't know how magic works in that system, so we'll have to wait for a /tg/ fag to come and explain.

They are going to blame Marcielle dark arts for this, right?
>>
>>159854275
You're in luck, I happen to be a /tg/ fag.

Wizardry is based off of D&D. In fact, it literally uses AD&D 1e rules as far as I remember, with some slight tampering.

Clerics are battle-priests that have miracles, or in FF terms, they have White Magic. Clerics get their spells directly from Christian God himself, or whatever setting God(s) there are for that particular setting if you expand the religious lore. They have to pray to God and ask for that day's miracles.

Magic is different, as it's just implied that the words, somatic (finger-waggling), and material components combine to make an impact through the world. However, in about 99% of the canon D&D settings, magic is implied or directly stated to exist because there is a God of Magic. In fact, one of the most popular settings, the Forgotten Realms, actually had a period where magic basically exploded because one of the Gods of Magic beat the shit out of the other one and took over, which changed how magic worked from between 3rd edition D&D to 4th. But then he got killed by the old Goddess again and magic was put back the way it MOSTLY was in 5th edition.
>>
>>159854501
Interesting. So if Laius is ranking up to Lord class, would his magic be miracle based or magic based? I'm thinking it'll probably be magic based since it was Marcille that taught him.
>>
>>159854501
>which changed how magic worked from between 3rd edition D&D to 4th. But then he got killed by the old Goddess again and magic was put back the way it MOSTLY was in 5th edition.
That sounds like the stupidest fucking way possible of explaining away a rule change.

>"Oh, yeah, you roll a different die to attack now because instead of making weapons out of iron they're making them out of super iron now, which is like iron but is octagonal, so we use the d8."
Fucking clownshoes.
>>
>>159850296

>>
>>159835083
none of this shit would ever happened if this damn elf never use her black magic and shit.

Still hate you Kobru, you fucking sandnigger.
>>
>>159854659
From what I'm seeing, the magic doesn't seem to be split between Magic and Miracles like you would normally expect. After all, Marcille knows cure magic, but she also knows attack spells, which is very atypical of that divide. I think in this setting, magic is just magic. So if you know how to cure, you know cure. If you know how to firebolt, you know how to firebolt. Class isn't relevant, at least it doesn't appear to be here. Which is my original point about how magic seems to be divorced from any reference to gods. If there's a split anywhere, I would think black magic would be the forbidden shit that Marcille was using.

>>159854889
>That sounds like the stupidest fucking way possible of explaining away a rule change.
It was specifically made so that people playing in Forgotten Realms settings could recreate their old character in the new rule set. It was only for Forgotten Realms, and only because FR is the defacto default implied setting. D&D doesn't actually have a real default setting, it's literally just the engine.
Also, I agree. At lot of us fa/tg/uys fucking HATE Forgotten Realms for many reasons.

Your second point, think of that rule change less as them using different iron, and more like inflation. "Oh, my HP went up. That means relative to before, a sword would be doing THIS much damage now". Like an update on the information as opposed to the actual die attached to it being significant.
>>
>>159854275
>Meshi is based off of Wizardry more than D&D.
I still think it's Dungeon Master, especially because you could eat monsters in that game and you can gain wizard levels like Laius just by practicing spells.
>>

>>159855329
Cabron clearly cares for his group and their well-being. Neutral Evil doesn't suit him because he wants to bring peace by killing the sorceror, the orcs and the thugs, who kill or steal stuff from honest peoples.

Lawful might not suits him well as he's more about forcing his morale laws rather than society's, so I'll call him True Neutral.

He has too much conviction in this morals to be true neutral. If neutrality represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction, then Cabron definitely does not fit the mold. Lawful evil might fit better, but he's shown to be pretty opportunistic.
>>
>>159859619
But is he evil? His intentions are noble, but his methods are questionable because his personality is twisted due to his trauma.
>>
>>159856089
Why is no one translating this to English?
>>
>>159859707
Because this world is corrupt.
>>
>>159859687
I guess the main issue is by what means would he use in order to reach his "noble" goals. If you think the ends justify the means, then Cabron would qualify as lawful "good". But if he has to murder everyone present and completely decimate everyone above-ground's means of living to do so, I'd argue that he's more neutral evil.

I think his well meaning morals are just an excuse for his own self interests. If he really wanted to destroy the dungeon, he would be focusing on killing the dark elf rather than nursing his silly grudge with Laius.
>>
>>159860004
That's because moral absolutes don't exist. The dungeon is an "evil" existence, but people are making a living off it. What's the right choice?

>>

In Wizardry terms, Kabru might be of Evil alignment (Wizardry only has Good-Neutral-Evil).
Fun little fact, ninjas can only be Evil. Samurai are Neutral or Good. Lords are only Good. Laius seems to be heading towards becoming the Lord class (warrior who can also cast priest spells - KATU *gesundheit*).

The ritual she did was not the "proper" resurrection ritual, which she can't do, but it's the one she learned in her studies of taboo magic. The dark magic that Marcille used is entirely unrelated to the fact that she used dragon meat for the resurrection ritual.
>>

The meat had nothing to do with it. Anon is just really stupid and refuses to notice that the circle making Farlyn part dungeon was never erased despite it being pointed out to him multiple times today as he pushes his dragon meat theory.

In other words she connected to an hellish arcane plane that naturally warps reality to bring about monsters, wraiths and zombies, and she used the energy from that dimension to resurrect someone.
>>
>>159838647
on one hand, allying with orcs (Kabru might not know about this, yet) could be questionable (however orcs might not be seen as monsters, but as another species, like elves, too), on the other hand, Laius' party did what Kabru wanted other adventurers to do, they took down monsters and fought against the dungeon (to prevent monsters from overflowing to the surface, or so he thinks); things can become complicated if Farlyn needs the dungeon to survive, and Kabru insists in ending it.

Wonder if the elves and humans fighting over control of the dungeon could become an equal or greater threat to the humans of the surface, so Kabru could put his initial goal aside. I was thinking on how the occurrence of dungeons could be something started by humanoid species, and remembered Marcille and Farlyn's class, where Farlyn made a mini-dungeon. Maybe there are people attempting to recreate dungeons in order to obtain magic power.
>>
>>159873285
Right, but the only problem with her ritual so far is the fact she used dragon meat. And the fact that the current establishment is racist against black magic.
>>
>>159873489
She had to turn off the connection to the dungeon after it was done and she forgot to turn it off. That's called a really big fucking problem.

>>
>>159873667
Marcille did soon after where she wondered if she remembered to do so. If your dragon meat theory was true then the meat inside everyone would be getting dragged out too in presumably a painful/disgusting manner.

If you look at it from Kabru's pov, he's not such a bad guy really. Just trying his best with limited information. Plus, Laius is OBJECTIVELY bad now, what with his unashamed usage of dark magic and all.

Kabru - Lawful good
>>
>>159875362
I don't think Kabru's a bad character or guy (deep down) at all, though he is clearly twisted. I don't understand the hate he gets at all, I guess his party's overconfidence in their introduction really rubbed people the wrong way. Plus seeing him wipe out over and over was a fantastic gag.

>Kabru eats monsters whose kind supposedly ate people who were important to him, as vengeance
>Laius eats his own sister because he wants to know how she tastes like (and/or kills her to prevent her from eating people)

seriously though, Farlyn reminds me of Stephanie (from Salamander's OVA series, more specifically the 3rd EP), in that Farlyn could fill the role of a "damsel in distress". And when people do rescue her, it backfires really hard on the sorcerer (in Farlyn's case, she could gain some important knowledge about the dungeon that would help defeat the sorcerer).

>>159873489
No, Marcille clearly explain the Dark Art and the problem isn't that she used dragon meat. It should be obvious from the fact that Farlyn is not transforming into a dragon. The energy from the mysterious dimension is responsible for mutating things and creating monsters. It was used on Farlyn and now she is a mutated monster.

these corpse hunters were attacking adventurers in the first place (when their function should be to aid them by reviving them or taking them to rez centers, not actively being the cause of them needing to be rezzed). I think that Kabru's party's best option (even despite the fact that they were the ones attacked, and that the corpse hunters tried to make them kill themselves) would be to report them, but maybe he was too obsessed with/focused in ending dungeons, or in a hurry to be bothered to properly deal with them so reporting them could also not be an option. It's kind of fair, since the corpse hunters were exploiting the economic system, operating on a way they weren't meant to, and Kabru's party also did something they weren't meant to (attacking people inside the dungeon). An exception for an exception.

Personally I think that if Kabru and Laius' parties fought and killed each other, like the corpse hunters wanted, they would legitimately be doing their work, *if* it was solely Kabru's decision; it's also not a part of a corpse hunter's job to misguide parties into attacking each other.

you (and other people) might be correct about his views, but it doesn't seem fair that only he is being hated, when his party members show no remorse when taking the bodies away, and some of them comment that Kabru killing them "serves them right".

The mage's group set their sight on Cabron's party because of how easily they were getting wiped out. The mage was clearly not okay with his buddies plot and then scared of Cabron when he proved that he wasn't completely inept. Cabron killed a defenseless man because he is a self-righteous bastard who doesn't think of long-term consequences, as he killed one of the probably few specialists capable of reviving people.

I'll explain the "power hungry" portion of my post. I hope that you will understand that this is my opinion based on a character that rubs me the wrong way, so I understand if you disagree. On the page of pic related, the last panel I think shows the real man behind his facade. While the rest of his adventuring party at this point is also cheering him on, to me those are the eyes of a man who feels like he is better than those he felt took advantage of him. That he should stand above them, and he coldly wants to get more than even. In the next chapter, when talking about the Thorden siblings on pages 13 and 14, he is fascinated by the interactions of people on the island. And understandable fascination, even if he seems a bit autistic about his interest in it, but it is on page 14 when he speaks about wanting to see what they look like through the image they present, that I get he feeling he sees them as much lower than himself. He seems to have an inflated sense of himself while wearing the mask of the party leader who only wants to take care of his companions, as is evident to me on pages 15 and 16 of the same chapter when talking about how the Thorden twins are not worthy of ruling and controlling the dungeon. To me, he seems to honestly believe that this must be their goal for adventuring, and to continue off of that I believe that he thinks this because it is his goal for adventuring. A lot of speculation here, so I hope you all will forgive me for theorizing

Because black arts are punished by at very least life imprisonment. Or even death. See the part where they talk about how making golems is considered black arts. Technically there is nothing inherently evil about it but it is prohibited by all governments and you become a criminal for even attempting it.

What exactly dangerous to governments in Marcille spell is hard to say. Maybe it could be used outside the dungeon if modified.
>>
>>159875488
He doesn't want to get mad. He is just very distrustful of normal glory-seeking adventurers who want to make money from that dungeon.
Kabru is the type who wants to save people, who considers dungeons to be dangerous monster-spawning accursed places. The quicker the dungeon is defeated and destroyed, the safer it is for everyone. Till the next dungeon appears.
Dungeons are like volcanoes that spit out horrible beasts. People who want to make a profit from this are irresponsible in his eyes.
So his first instinct is to assume that everyone else is a dangerous arsehole who doesn't want to save people, just get rich, like the corpse gatherers.

But now he found out that Laius ain't the smart smug criminal mastermind. Just a fucking weirdo who eats the dungeon.

>Kabru realizes that Laius is just a dangerous idiot

Laius pretty much IS just a dangerous idiot. In fact, if you realize that Laius is a dangerous idiot "leader" who is enabling a dwarf monster-eater, an unchecked dark art dabbling elf and halfling with a history of greed and cowardice- then Laius and his party really do seem like the bad guys.

And if it didn't stop there, now Laius's sister is some horrific dungeon chimera, friends of the Orcs and users of monster weapons (and even wearing monster skins), Laius and co. may have essentially crossed over into total evil monster territory.

Kabru has certainly already tallied it up(or will soon) and calculate, like a true leader, the most ideal time to strike such pure evil down.

The dungeon is an analogy to nucular enarjie.
Used responsibly, it's a clean source of power to cook stuff.
But if you ain't paying attention, it might get out of hand, and then people become radioactive men and women who die from cancer.
Just like the dungeon makes monsters that make people dead.
Or in some case turns people into monsters that go around killing more people.

In the end, it always boils down to nucular enarjie

That's a whole lotta words to say nothing of substance. People not willing to read are stupid but you take it to the other extreme piling on words to cover for a lack of substance.
Your entire argument amounts to reading WAY to much into every little thing and making wild assumptions. Ironically, that could actually be argued to be cabron's main character fault too. Maybe that's why you have such a strong negative reaction to him, it hits too close to home.

Even if your headcanon were true none of that really points to power-hungry, just prideful. Different sins.
>>
>>159880933
>Oh please, he just got scared because when his life was the one on the line it stopped being fun
No, he actually almost told Cabron's party that it was treasure bugs that killed them. The other collector with him at the time stopped him because it would raise chances of them finding Cabron troop corpses again.
>>
>>159881139
Yeah and he also participated willingly in the plan to murder the party.
Maybe he just didn't think of lying about the bugs but even if he was being kind that hardly cancels out attempted murder.

>Your entire argument amounts to reading WAY to much into every little thing and making wild assumptions
Admittedly, it was all speculation with only those few pages really hitting close to what I thought of him, but I didn't think it was stretching too far
>Ironically, that could actually be argued to be cabron's main character fault too
True. I believe this too, but perhaps wasn't giving the idea as much weight as it deserved before
>Maybe that's why you have such a strong negative reaction to him, it hits too close to home
Well, shit. Maybe? I don't really identify all that strongly with Kabru and think that he is a bit too charismatic for me to be all that like him, but maybe this is true.
>Even if your headcanon were true none of that really points to power-hungry, just prideful. Different sins.
I truly believe that he is prideful, but my speculation is that it goes even further beyond that to the point of actively hating and looking to get revenge on all those he feels look down on him or would think of themselves as better than him. I'm not positive, but it's just the vibe I've gotten from him

With subsequent revival as a part of a scam operation. These guys would be in big trouble if Cabron reported them to the Governor like he mentioned he could do. Even if they managed to bribe their way out, it would still be really bad for them, as reputation in their business is a serious thing, like Chilchack pointed out. But Cabron found it easier to just murder them then and there and dump their bodies hoping that fish or monsters will find them before other corpse collectors and adventurers. If you don't think he did something wrong and evil there then maybe there is something wrong with your logic.
>>

>If you don't think he did something wrong and evil there then maybe there is something wrong with your logic.
He didn't.

If he let them go the bandits would've found them again and murdered them in their sleep to prevent them from ratting them out

If he killed them but let their body in a safe spot so they'll be revived, same thing.

It's not an evil thing to kill a bunch of guys that tried to kill you, will try to kill you if you let them go, and will surely kill others adventurers later.
>>

Truly, bodycams for palladins when?! orc lives matter! demons are innocent until proven guilty by a jury of their peers!

>These guys would be in big trouble if Cabron reported them to the Governor like he mentioned he could do.
Which only incentivises the criminals to dump bodies and murder their victims for good too.
>Even if they managed to bribe their way out, it would still be really bad for them, as reputation in their business is a serious thing
We know that criminals literally hide from the law in the dungeon and these ones were already trying to murder parties rather than just doing their corpse collection business. They already made the decision and took the risk of breaking the law for the potential reards beyond their legitimate business affected by things like good reputation.
>Cabron found it easier to just murder them then and there and dump their bodies hoping that fish or monsters will find them before other corpse collectors and adventurers
And who knows how many others may have been murdered if they'd been let go!?
If they got revived they could have even claimed to be victims and then gone after the party for a revenge ambush or gone to the surface to lie and get a warrant put out for carbon's party to cover the crime.

I honestly don't get why you're reaching so far to make excuses for a bunch of lying robbers and attempted murderers. In fact for all we know they've killed others.
>>
>>159881857
But then wouldn't the truly good thing to do in that situation be to try and get them arrested? He could have even still killed them, but taken their bodies to the surface to be revived and thrown in jail
>>
>>159881923
Ok you try to haul 4 or 5 bodies through three levels or the dungeon without raising the attention of extra monsters when your group fails to survive on its own
>>
>>159881923
Read the manga or at least the thread before joining the conversation.

It was established they would likely bribe their way out of punishment and there's already a criminal community living in the dungeon to avoid the law. Then you're right back at the same problems of them robbing, murdering and plotting revenge.

It's not like the criminals have the right to a get out of jail free card from death as a consequence for their shitty actions just because they decided to murder in the dungeon instead of along some lonely road. Cabron's goal is also to beat the dungeon so all the spirits will be freed.

I'm not saying it's easy, but being good rarely is. Killing them and leaving them behind as you move on is convenient, but actively trying or hoping that their bodies are eaten by monsters so that they can never be revived is a little into the grey area for me. Plus, this is also the same party leader that continued down 2 more levels after a total party wipe to treasure bugs, albeit he might have been a little lax because he assumed they had been done in by other adventurers. They also died again going further in and am still going down more to tag along with Sureau

Idk what agenda you have that you keep making excuses and trying to misinterpret their crimes as some innocent theft of pocket change punished by aggressive evil meany mean extra adjective murder.

In the final confrontation they were outright trying to kill the party, that's attempted murder, and if they're willing to murder for money they'd defiantly try to escape/murder to avoid justice and murder for revenge if they're brought in even if they bribe their way free.

And there's no way the criminals that just tried to murder the party might, if let go, ambush and murder them later to cover their crime and get back their bribe? If anything their nonchalant-ness about a bribe to avoid punishment for their attempted murder makes it seem like such things are business as usual for them.

>Or he could bring them to the surface.
And they could have many opportunities to murder the party on the way, and they could bribe their way free to go back to murdering and seek revenge or they could even lie and claim to be the victims.

They literally tried to kill the party and you keep trying to ignore it and pretend that they're just some wayward kids that didn't return a dropped dollar while they were out spreading the word of the lord. Do you really think this is the one and only time they ever have or ever would try to kill someone for money if they were willing to this time?
>tried to be as discreet as possible about it and their leader tried bribery instead of trying to fight and kill Cabroni
AFTER they had already tried to murder the party! How nice that they tried to be discrete about attempted murder and business-as-usual bribery to escape.

If they lie/bribe their way out of justice or murder the party on the way up then they won't need to worry about that but even if were truly exposed it's been established there's an outlaw criminal community in the dungeon where they'd likely flee to and continue murdering from.

It's basically stated that they would go unpunished and at best inconvenienced and you have to be either a retard or a troll to be ignoring it
Stated by whom? Cabron and his murder-happy band who try to justify their actions? They even justified taking their food but leaving their gold so they could still think good of themselves.
>>
Adventurers are duty-bound to kill orcs, because orcs kill other people.
Why should adventurers not kill wannabe-murderers who try to make people kill each another so that they can get money from the government? Simply because they're humans?

That's racist.

You read the thread, retard.
Of course, we're going in circles when you just keep making excuses and whining that murdering thieves are just good boys who don't pose any threat.

>The crooked system might let them go in the end is the only problem, but they might just as well be locked away for their crimes.
>so what if the system is corrupt and they'll bribe their way out of any punishment and/or escape and come back to murder you in your sleep for revenge and go on to continue murdering others, you just gotta let stuff happen lol
No.
>>
>>159884406
How about them bribing their way out of punishment like it's business as usual for them along with the stated corruption and criminal elements around the dungeon which is the whole fucking plotline and purpose for the cabron party.

Seriously read the fucking manga, and if you say you did then no you fucking did not or you would know this shit you speedreading retard.

They wanted to go to surface before encountering Toshiro and his retainers. Which happened AFTER they killed corpse collectors and dumped their bodies.

>>159884391
>The attempted murderers aren't insane? Oh great I guess that makes it better
There is a difference between trying to trick people who were previously established as inept losers who die to the stupidiest shit so they kill themselves for you (so you get to collect money the "legitimate" way) and trying to scrape by as a bandit fighting against adventrures. I am pretty sure that noone mentioned crazy bandits as one of the dungeon's many hazards. You know why? It's easier to rob people somewhere with less monsters+other dungeon dangers and somewhere with lesser chances of running into a group of people where each of their members could take you on single-handedly.

>lol the attempted murder was just a one time thing, super duper promise they wont do it again :3
Something I never said or suggested.

How about getting their reputation ruined and saying goodbye to easy money as usual for them with the adventurer system and community around the dungeon which is the whole fucking reason for why it would be bad for Namari to help her party out. If the state could simply not give those corpse collectors money by claiming that it could be another of their scams they are notorious for, do you think the state would pass on this chance? I think not.

Seriously read the fucking manga, Cabron's party think that Laius's party is corrupt and that Chilchack is corrupt for wanting to ensure that there are no scams.
>>
>>159884551
>Of course, we're going in circles when you just keep making excuses and whining that murdering thieves are just good boys who don't pose any threat
Except that is clearly going against what I've said the entire time. I never once said they were good. I never said they didn't pose any threat EXCEPT when the battle was already over and they clearly no longer posed a threat in that fight
>so what if the system is corrupt and they'll bribe their way out of any punishment and/or escape and come back to murder you in your sleep for revenge and go on to continue murdering others, you just gotta let stuff happen lol
And all you can do is parrot other people's strawman, because that is again not what I am saying. There is absolutely no guarantee that they will get away with it, it is simply a possibility. Even then, that is not mean you are morally in the right for preemptively killing them. Not entirely unjustified? Sure, but you can't call yourself GOOD, which is what I have been arguing you little shit

You know criminals literally live in the dungeon, they don't carry all they own on their person like adventurers group

Something I never said or suggested, you sure like putting words in my mouth.
And you sure treat revivable murder as seriously as true murder, which Cabron's party commited with glee.

>>159884777
Don't see your point. If these guys were confirmed criminals it would be much harder for them to do their business on the surface.
>>
Kabru does make the mistake of believing that the governor is incompetent or at least not smart enough to come up with a good solution that will tackle the problem of corpse scammers while protecting newbie adventurers like Donnie and Fionell (bless their cute incompetence).
He ain't realizing that the governor is of course more interested in Mr. Tance's theory that the dungeon holds the secret of IMMORTALITY (which the neighboring elven empire in the west is also very much interested in).

There are many parties with conflicting interests.

Now all we need is another surprising revelation like for example that Fionell is the imperial princess of the elves running away with Donnie.

Especially since they have their mage as hostage, aka the only one who can revive adventurers for money

To teach them a lesson and to show all the other adventurers who's boss.
Don't fuck with the corpse collection company.

Getting rid of the black sheep was in the end a boon for everyone. Dead adventurers can still trust the more moderate corpse collectors to do their job, the governor won't have to enact new untested laws and can still focus on his job to keep the elves away, those in the business of corpse collecting can still be considered trustworthy enough by normal adventurers.

All it took was getting rid of the cheaters who would bring the whole fragile system down.

What the fuck are you even arguing? Of course having their reputation hurt could hurt their business, that's not the point.

They can deny wrongdoing and pretend to be the victim especially along with stated corruption and bribes they've been shown ready and willing to use.
Even if they can't bribe their way out of guilt they can escape to the dungeon which has a growing number of outlaws.

>If the state could simply not give those corpse collectors money by claiming that it could be another of their scams they are notorious for, do you think the state would pass on this chance? I think not.
Wow you are legitimately retarded and not just about japanese comics. How do you think corruption and shit happen in real life? It doesn't always matter what the state wants if lower end people lie and keep info from moving up the chain or if higher ups are in on it.

>Seriously read the fucking manga
It seems like you're just embarrassed and trying to toss my words back at me but it doesn't really work here.
>Cabron's party think that Laius's party is corrupt
Them making incorrect assumptions doesn't mean they're wrong about everything especially with other characters confirming things about increasing crime and corruption as the higher levels get cleared of treasure. Furthermore cabron had some reason to suspect laius party but in the latest issue he actually admitted he was probably worng about the theft at least.
>and that Chilchack is corrupt for wanting to ensure that there are no scams.
You really need to stop speedreading, it was his companion that suggested chilchack was corrupt because she assumed he must just be pretending to be "better" than others to hide his conniving side, also to be fair he was trying to force all halflings into a union.
>>
>>159885274
It's not really that difficult to murder people that can murder giant fire-breathing lizards.
Those who can murder giant fire-breathing lizards tend to be very exhausted and very hungry after the murdering of giant fire-breathing lizards.
You just kill them in their sleep while they're returning back home and barely able to stand on their own legs.
The whole setting is inspired by Wizardry, but nobody in Dungeon Meshi has hit points as ablative protection against being stabbed in the face.
A giant fire-breathing lizard-killing Laius still dies when getting a knife through his heart, just like a newbie Laius trying to fight living armor dies when stabbed through his heart.
>>
>>159885052
There are different degrees and types of corruption.
Maybe it's the guard that takes reports from adventurers and he makes the case disappear.
Maybe if you try to go to other guards or spread rumours he hears and makes trouble till you stop, maybe his boss is involved but doesn't care so long as there aren't problems. Even if reports can't be completely squashed prisoners can "escape" or "die" which is less ideal but better than facing justice.

Also, never heard of revenge? especially if it makes trouble for them.

On adventurers whom they wronged, no on the establishment.

>Wow you are legitimately retarded and not just about japanese comics. How do you think corruption and shit happen in real life? It doesn't always matter what the state wants if lower end people lie and keep info from moving up the chain or if higher ups are in on it
Wow, you are retarded too. What do the revival center or higher-ups gain from paying the guys making adventurer work harder?

>It seems like you're just embarrassed and trying to toss my words back at me but it doesn't really work here
Nah I think I am doing a good job.

>You really need to stop speedreading, it was his companion that suggested chilchack was corrupt because she assumed he must just be pretending to be "better" than others to hide his conniving side, also to be fair he was trying to force all halflings into a union
Yeah, I guess. I forgot how her companions knew that she played the poor kobold for a tool and were okay with it. Maybe they actually know how much of shitty people they actually are.
>>
>>159885430
We are talking about scaring those people into being afraid of corpse collectors, not about the corpse collectors killing them. Two different things.
>>
>>159885599
>What do the revival center or higher-ups gain from paying the guys making adventurer work harder?
How do you think actual real-world corruption works? They get a cut.
This is an actual thing that happens. People fuck with the numbers and take a cut of the money and pay off who they have to and sometimes it even goes to the very top.

Holy shit I'm done, I'm not giving some retarded summer kid an education on how the world works for free.
That's enough bait for me.

And they are supposed to make profit when there is a high chance of murderhobos or murderhobos' clients objecting in who knows what ways to those notorious corpse collectors being paid? Too dangerous. Both for corpse collectors and the people getting the cut.
>>
>>159885688
It is most likely that super-experienced adventurer groups like that of Laius or such that pack really powerful resources like Mr. Tance are not that ubiquitous.
The vast majority ought to be at a level between Kabru and Donnie.
According to Senshie, most seem to be rather Donnie-level.
>>
>>159885907
But the establishment actually wants adventurers adventuring. A group of shitheads saying that they could do to adventurers whatever they want to is counterproductive to that. Then there is chance of adventurers themselves or even other corpse collectors to be strong enough to beat them or, worse, do what Cabron's party did.

All this talk makes those corpse collectors seem like strong super villains when they are anything but that. I mean, even their mage wasn't accustomed to his group's scummy ways. Getting bad reputation would be pretty much a death sentence to their group anyway. It's too much trouble.
>>
>>159886114
The system works on a trust-basis. The government trusts that the corpse collectors are doing their job to provide health insurance to the adventurers, who are for now stripping the dungeon clean of anything that has value as well as keeping the monster and orc population in check. Also, the adventurers must pay the corpse collectors a fee for being resurrected.

The whole system will break down if adventurers will actually start believing that the corpse collectors are actively killing them to get government money. Then they won't pay the corpse collectors and perhaps even actively attack them, corpse collectors will stay away, adventurers will die more and more, returning as ghouls and ghosts, and then the island gets overrun by monsters.
Until the elves come and purge everything and take over the dungeon for themselves.

So it would make sense that the island government would rather just hide the fact that there's a bunch of criminal corpse collectors abusing the system, so that the adventurers will still continue doing their business.
>>
>>159886270
Sounds like a golden opportunity for Cabron as an alleged fighter against the stupid rules and corruption then. I doubt that the whole system would blow just because of one group's wrongdoings and public's reaction to them. Especially if they get punished for that.
>>
>>159886669
Nobody likes corpse collectors. They're considered a necessary jewish evil.
>>
>>159886824
No reason to defend those who prove to be harmful and get caught red-handed.
>>
>>159886947
It's easier to just keep the whole thing under wraps. It's hard enough to deal with violent murderhobos, who are a greedy and distrustful lot while having to keep elves away, being mean to dwarvish merchants and dealing with a rising half-foot minority of thieves.
>>
>>159887034
Cabron could quickly tell his boyfriends about the incident so that's ruined or damaged reputation for that group of corpse collectors and damaged reputation for the corrupt authorities.
>>
>>159887145
The murderhobos will believe that all authorities are corrupt. They're already believing that the island governor's staff is all incompetent for not having thorough screening processes that keeps cheaters and criminals hiding on the third level of the dungeon away.
Just because one rotten group gets publicly punished (if at all), doesn't mean that they got them all, after all.
