He's probably a sort of enviable, god-like being in a world where the curse is dangerous and artifacts are someone's livelihood. People want to know more.

It's one of those questions everyone kinda has in the back of their mind, but rather than this just conveniently never coming up, the author addresses it all the time.

Kinda like using the toilet, that isn't left out either.

It's all part of the world really. The characters are cutesy, but all their vulnerabilities and oddities are never hidden. It makes them feel more real, and makes the unbelievable setting more grounded too, you still care what happens and none of the characters have any kind of plot armour that stops bad things happening to them.

"Does a robot get boners" is also now part of the literal plot because why the fuck not. I love this manga for that kind of stuff.

She was tasked by Lyza to send Riko down to her, but Ozen wanted to make sure they wouldn't die along the way.

Keep in mind, Ozen has been alive and in the Abyss for a long time. She has the sort of cynicism and bluntness that comes from a life of hardship and loss, so her people skills are terrible. Despite this, she taught Lyza to become arguably one of the best White Whistles in history.

She cares in her own way, even if it's harsh; tough love so to speak.

Anime is making more money than ever. If it is dying its only from too much work and a lack of creative talent. That is what these big names are talking about when they say anime is in trouble. The quality of the product and the huge amounts of works studios have to do.

The reasons are fairly simple, long running shows used to be the norm. Longer running shows nowadays however run up against problems with keeping to schedule and also it just makes much more sense from a business point of view. You can make one season and see how well it does profit wise, then if it does well commission more seasons. If not you lose much less money.

To be fair, the manga is complete shit. It takes a severe degree of autism to fill in the space between panel transitions and proceed with the story logically. For instance, in one case there is a horde of Bondrewd's lackeys holding Reg down and dissembling him, suddenly, a dash happens and he has been carried like 30 yards away without any of the people holding him down intervening at all. It's ridiculous, what are we supposed to infer other than speeds beyond teleportation and the unrealistic "the dudes just watch while this happen".

It's so dumb.

The anime though, is great. It's presenting a well-thought fantasy world, the story progression is nice, the exposition was handled well, and we have a much better idea of the setting/context everything. The manga is just plain awful and only for true autists, glad that people outside the spectrum will get to enjoy what the author did right.

Where X are km

At a depth of 0 km, the time on the surface would go 0 times as fast as the time at km 0, which is also the surface. Hurr.
At a depth of 12.5 km, time on the surface would be going 6.4 times faster, which we already knew.
At a depth of 14.25 km (the middle point of the 6th layer), time on the surface would go 7.3 times faster.
At a depth of 16 km (somewhere in the 7th layer), time would go 8.2 times faster.
At a depth of 20 km, the deepest point that shows on the map from chapter 7, time on the surface would go 10.28 times faster.
So if we assume that the bottom is at 20 km, more or less, Ozen's guess that the 10 years Riko has spent on the surface would be only 1 year for Lyza is correct.

Considering how difficult dives down to 5th layer and back typically are, it's possible that there isn't enough evidence to justify ordering White Whistles to do it.

It's just a rumor on the surface after all, and I doubt they could get a message down to the Idofront easily to order the White Whistles there to do it (Bondrewd would probably ignore it anyway). Ozen's managing the Seeker Camp, so I don't think they would have her do it, which just leaves Black Whistles, who would probably get rekt going down and back with no White Whistles.

I think Monster is fairly well regarded as an adaptation too so maybe he is just generally good at capturing the essence of something as a Director.

You know, now that you mention it, I did register what they were trying to do with the music in the back of my mind during that scene.
