If Mashima didn't remember us in the first page that this shit was about to end, I wouldn't have thought this would be the final arc. It didn't feel like such. It felt like any other FT arc, with a bunch of unknown but supposedly powerful guys appearing only to be defeated by the power of friendship, and the big bad guy being destroyed by Natsu after consuming some sort of special magic.Mashima seriously can't create a good story to save his life. The arcs always started so good, but at the middle is like he didn't know what the fuck to do next and then procceded to do a clusterfuck. And my god, that Natsu vs Zeref fight was so underwhelming. It was some generic bar fight.

This series started so good, but ended being such a dissapointment. The only good thing about this series is the amount of beautiful and humungous tits and asses that appear every chapter.

Ironically, I started reading this 10 years ago because I thought it was created by Oda. Oh poor innocent me, thinking that Oda would have enough time to make 2 series at the same time.

Every time a big shonen manga ends I come to /a/. It's becoming a tradition of sorts for me. I'm always curious who will be happy about the ending, who "wins", and who is angry and why.

FT seems like it's left pretty much no one happy for pretty much any reason, which is kind of sad. Well I guess the Natsu Lucy shippers are happy but I don't follow this series so I don't know the significance of that.

Is there any word on the anime yet? I know itll return, I just wasn't sure if a date had been set yet

They went to war with a neighboring nation because Zeref is that nation's king. Erza's biological mother is a 400-year old dragon who gestated Erza for all that time with the plan to demonically possess her once she was born, but gave up. Erza cut a meteor and her mom killed herself. Gray and Juvia tried to kill themselves, then Gray got pissed after he failed and tried to kill Natsu. Also, Juvia survived too. Makarov used a spell that explicitly kills the caster and survived. Zeref and his waifu fucked each other to death. Among other things.

And we never got to see which other Dragon Slayer elements God Serena had.

Also, whatever happened to other three Gods of Ishval after being defeated by Serena? They were pretty underwhelming, even after that old hag from the Magic Game bragged about their power.

Remember, he was the one who cursed Zeref with eternal life. But why? Because Zeref attempted to resurrect hi little brother. Now, this was the first point you all should have started to catch on. Why would a god get so angry about resurrection? And why is the punisment eternal life? The answer is easy, but reading FT more makes it easier: Ankhseram himslef is an immortal who wishes to die. Zeref's childish ideal of defying death fueled Ankhseram's anger, who just wanted to die, and bestowed eternal life as punisment, and as a lesson for Zeref to learn the importance of death, eternal rest.
Now, now, are you catching on? Who is the one character, who does everything to dies, yet can not achive such simple task? The one who comes back every time. The one who tries every method to die, yet fails every time.
Yes, Ankhseram is Makarov. FT is really Makarov's story of trying to die. But it's not something you can directly tell, and Mashima is a great writer who knows this well. Natsu and Lucy are not the real main characters, they are just place holders, the ones to deter the eyes of the young and unworthy from the real story of this masterpiece. Fairy Tail was always about Makarov, and his struggle to finally die and rest in piece. But he could never achive this. He is a failure, an immortal all powerful failure. A proof of Mashima's genius.
