Zeldris knows some things about the curse, but not everything. He didn't tell anything about it, because, as a good leader, he doesn't want his subjects to ponder about baseless assumptions on some rumors. Once Mel proved to be able to come back, the rumors gained credit, thus he felt the need to discuss the matter with his subordinates, like Mera.
In short: Mera only recently heard about it, because Zel is a great leader, unlike Mel.

Same for Merlin.
King's is nice, but useless, unless you want to be a yakuza, focusing on old dudes.
Diane's is too flashy, but being able to make golems of your waifu's is tempting.
Escanor's is too flashy, you are shit at night and unable to fuck without pulverizing your beloved at day.

Ban is a close second, being able to rob people of their physical strenth and their clothes is great in certain occasions, and robbing banks would be easy as hell.
But with Gowther, you don't even have to do that. Find a rich guy, make him give you his money, and you are set for life. And you can fuck anyone. You literally can not ask for more.

Nakaba confirmed that the Sins will have a sequel about Arthur and the Round Table. Half the Round Table have parents who are characters in Sins. Meliodas/Elizabeth for Tristan, Ban/Elaine for Lancelot, Escanor has a connection to Gawain, Merlin is obvious, Gowther is part of Arthurian tales, Liones, Vivian, Camelot, Uther are all names from Arthurian legends. At this point it's almost confirmed. Especially when Nakaba said he will get to show us what happens when a giant and a fairy procreate.
