Goals that you can understand/can't entirely blame them for

See, people like to say a villain is good, when he's basically morally right and totally just bot portrayed as the antagonist.

This isn't a good villain, this is a good character and good antagonist.

A good villain would have motives that make sense and you can sympathize for, but still be fucking villainous and cross the boundry of good and evil on the way to achieving his goal.

Take Solidus Snake for example. He makes perfect sense and has a goal everyone can agree with and understand, but the guy's a piece of shit who makes orphans to turn them into child soldiers and kills innocent people.
It's not that his enemy or goal was different than Solid Snake's, it's that his means of achieving it were villainous.

I kinda dislike the idea the a villain needs a "good cause" to be justified as a "good" villain.
Sure it helps but I am a fan of villains simply doing stuff for their own gain or wealth simply put.

Being ab-so-fucking-lutely irredeemable, even if they're given SEVERAL chances to redeem over the course of many years.

As long as it's expanded on and there's at least some kind of backstory.

If the villain isn't expanded on but is there and evil because "lol he's evil" then he doesn't feel like a real character and just feels more like a plot device.
