Frankly the manga's going exactly as I predicted over a year ago so far. Tokujira's angry and confused, Botan is so awesome she weathers the storm and helps mend the broken bonds while also pushing herself forward as a recognized love interest.

Realistically there's no reason for actual love between Tokujira and Itsuki to bloom. If Tokujira is actually a lesbian (doubt it, but regardless she entertained the idea) then it's even more unlikely she'll "win".
