News is about a week old, but yes, I'm looking forward to Lupin III Part 5 a ton.

I've been watching almost nothing but Lupin for the past few years (watched every animation with a Lupin tag on it in chronological order), and part 4 is a solid 10/10. It gives the Lupin series some bigger story like movies do (but can't do as well as they don't have as much time as a Lupin Series would have), but mixes it up with standalone episodes that feel much more like earlier parts' episodes. It does a ton of callbacks to older moments, but also brings new things to the table, which all feel very "Lupin".
I really enjoyed the reimagining of my favourite episode, the one where Lupin was in prison for the entire episode. They did some really good stuff with the new one, but also referred back to it - Zenigata mentioning "a priest visiting Lupin" was really neat.
The soundtrack is top as well, all the jingles sound really good and make it feel like a proper Lupin part. Literally the only thing I could complain about is that Goemon looks about 5~10 years too young in comparison to everyone else. But it's nothing big enough to really "complain" about either.

So let's hope part 5 continues that fashion.

Well it was just announced that it was in production less than a week ago. The only image we got was this promotional picture which doesn't show much.. Not even Lupin's new jacket. We have no idea whether or not it will be out in a few months, the end of the year, or sometime next year.

It's more common in the older Lupins I think, and kind of a thing they liked to do more back then.
I guess it also depends on who draws him and how much they interpret him having a "monkey face" into their drawings.
Albeit I think most of the time Lupin looks pretty hot.

Yea, that too. I'm not sure if the tooth-gaps are just a beauty-mark kind of thing in this situation though, or if it isn't rather just the way they drew faces at the time.
I see it more commonly in 70s/80s anime, so I guess at that time it was just kind of a staple to add to draw "cartoony" faces.

Oh please. Lupin is TMS's biggest franchise and their golden ticket to do whatever they want as long as they have it. If Animaniacs does happen again, it's not going to be as expensive to make. They only went all out because of Spielberg but his name value isn't as strong as it was back in 1992. Plus the show itself never made any money off of toys or merch. I doubt any effort for Lupin part 5 will be put aside for the sake of a foreign cartoon. TMS must of learned their mistake last time when they barely promoted part 4 and the ratings weren't exactly good.

The Spielberg toons they did in the 90s were much larger for TMS then any Lupin project they ever did, also they were badly suffering until 2014 when they went on to do retakes for Wakko's Wish since "If Shaft does retakes for older projects then so can we" and Blue Jacket did not feel like a main focus until it's last 2 episodes. The only reason why TMS is around today is because of Lupin They almost went bankrupt after making Akira and Little Nemo. I think you're underselling it's importance in terms of profit they made from the franchise especially in the 90's during the period when they were doing the Spielberg cartoons. Even though a bunch of the films from the mid-late 00's weren't great, it's still what kept them going long after they stopped working on American cartoons. I just don't they'll take it for granted because of any other projects. Plus who knows how many people they have working there. It's possible only a certain section of the company is working on one while the rest are working on the other.

According to a Green Jacket episode he had a Japanese ancestor and somewhat resembles him (although this was a story made up by him to fool a time traveler, but considering how he could disguise himself as a Japanese peasant, the episode doesn't imply that he's lying about it).

However, in a Red Jacket episode it's specifically said that he wasn't Japanese at all (in an episode featuring one of those lost WWII soldiers).

Hm well, they all use the same "style" of Lupin I don't like quite as much as the other Lupin iterations myself, but they aren't really all "bad" through and through.
Whilst Napoleon no Jisho o Ubae / Steal Napoleon's Dictionary is probably the worst Lupin-movie (in my book), I enjoyed the Hemingway Papers one a bunch.

I think they can be nice for a change, though I'm happy it's not a style they stuck with, but kept trying out new things. It's one of the things keeping Lupin interesting and relevant I think.
