All of his mangas are one way or another about some little boy being dominated by an (often) older or more aggressive woman.

Also, I read Army of One, and goddamn that shit has to be one of my favorite mangas. It has an Edgar Allen Poe feeling to the story and the twist was good (even tho I expected it) I wanted to ship the MC and the girl so I didn't want her to end up crazy like that.

My favorite aspect of the series is how by the end, despite how much we may have wished or how the manga may have convinced us otherwise, there was no anime magic at work here and Sumire was purely a fabrication of the old man made all too realistic by his refusal to break character no matter what. Numerous times I wanted to think there was the spirit of a teenage girl in the doll or some such that would be far from unusual for a manga plot, but in the end it was just an old man with a puppet. Man can put any other ventriloquist in world history to shame just by his sheer dedication to character alone.
I also recall Yakuza girl being best girl, but it's been a while so I can't totally remember.

It's probably in the upper half of Miyazaki's movies, but I can't really enjoy it anymore; it feels shallow given that I know how much further the story actually goes. Ohma dies within a minute without being named, Kushana doesn't complete her character arc, Kurotowa doesn't get his moment of glory during the daikaisho, we never see Namulith, we never see the Master of the Crypt, etc. It just feels very unfulfilling.

I'd fucking kill for an animated series though.
