I would say heavy merchandising is just as bad in a show as say, Amazons.

I'd also like a middle ground when it comes to drama. Going back to Amazons, it felt way too melodramatic and the drama at times felt absolutely retarded, especially in S2 whereas I'd say something like Rainbow Live does it excellently.

Ex-Aid for example has Heavy Merchandising but it never felt like a problem, the new weekly toy to collect never felt like it was getting in the way of the story. I'm not entirely sure the issue is being just kids shows when it comes to drama and merchandising.

Simplifying concepts though I can agree with.

So, now that I got to actual start of the plot in Dear my Future (OP3) I want to say one thing.
This show would be so much better if they'd cut Ayami, Karin and paku-paku. Make initial focus on Mia pulling Reina around, while they compete with Hye In and each other before forming a unit. Make Gwenkoma girl and toned down So Min the rival duo.
I really felt like most of episodes I watched are skipable as fuck. If the second half is good I'll make an episode guide for my future rewatches.
Right now I have huge expectations for the shuffled teams of 3 thing.

According to the anime Twitter, the M4 merch with the new key art were only able to be produced because the first round of merch (the ugly plushes) sold well. And those were only made because one (or both?) of the two PR guys who run the Twitter pushed for M4 merch.

And according to Satou, they also never planned to give M4 a song in the beginning. They actually had to rush to get Bokura no Kiseki finished on time.

If you're talking about PriPara, just start at episode one. A sort-of-reboot called "Idol Time" begain 15 episodes ago, but it's looking more like a sequel and less like a reboot with each episode.

Start with PriPara episode 1. There are two gaps in the subs, but there's 79 episodes before you get there. Both gaps are being worked on, so maybe it'll be fully subbed before you get there.

Just keep going with episodes. You can watch the PriParis movie when you get to 80-90 or so. There's also subs for a live-action musical coming out in a couple of weeks.

Aikatsu is mostly comfy slice of life, though the singers are different from the seiyuu. Starts off with bad CG but gets really good later. Also, stay away from Aikatsu Stars at least at first.

Pripara is a wacky comedy, and has incomplete subs if that's an issue.

Well, Meganee is basically in every episode of all 3 seasons of PR and same with PP, she is the administrator character, and eventually she has a song as well. Kaname is second half of PRAD, she has my favorite solo song in AD, or maybe tied with Rhythm's. Hye In is some Korean character in PRDMF, she's not bad but doesn't sound much like Kanae Itou so I didn't even realize it was her until I saw that cast listing, usually I can recognize her voice in any role but for some reason it didn't remind me of her when listening to Hye In.
