The thing about Ayase and Nodoka is that they were the ones who liked Negi the most from their own perspective, at least based on the last rankings I am aware of. Was there ever some kind of definitive end of Negima chart on affection? I don't think the last ones really covered magic world adequately.

I think he said something at one point about the magic world being most of the way through the story, but I also believe that was near the end and we might not have gotten the original truth. My personal feeling is that the magic world arc should have cut a lot of the training and been a good deal shorter while addressing the major plot developments relating to the Lifemaker. Yue and nodoka loose on that front because one is basically MIA for MW so the romance slows, there's still a clear crush but they don't get as much screen time as they did during MW as they had in the first 30% of the series.

I think it came down to yue/nodoka, chisame/robot and completely insane wild cards could be asuna/eva. The latter two had mentor/sister already and most other girls were in the 'tease' bracket, not the 'I want to fuck negi' bracket, ayaka? (rich one) and the one that wanted to fuck adult mode negi excluded.

The result is what some people wanted, it's just left open because he's fucking 11. What 11 year old outside of arranged marriage can commit, he's also immortal with no kids.

Ultimately it turned out to be the right thing to do, as Mahora was charming and necessary to get into the large cast. But he was always planning on shifting the story to the action stuff, even if the details clearly weren't planned out from the beginning.

Why do people keep saying this shit like it's a fact and not an opinion? UQ Holder might not be as popular; in part because Ken waited way too long to release a proper sequel to Negima. I read Negima back when it was still being released and enjoyed it for what it was. I've enjoyed UQ Holder from the beginning for what it was. Both series had really rough starts. The cast of UQ Holder is absolutely fine and holds it's own. I actually enjoy Touta more as a protagonist than I did Negi. He's much more honest and less wimpy which is refreshing after Negi. They may have rebranded the series but I never really had an issue with what Akamatsu had been doing. My largest complain is that the pacing has been all over. Which I think was an issue with Negima as well. The beginning of Negima was slow and now going anywhere until the Festival arc.

Ultimately the only thing I care about right now is that Akamatsu has actually planned out how he is going to end this series. Hopefully we do not get a Negima ending all over again.

Ive already read Angel Densetsu but it kind of works since as the author said themself it gets to the point where the characters have this life of their own because they developed so much instead of being just archetypes. Thats what kills me when I see things like "generic tsundere" used in negima since the characters are so much more developed that you can say "that kind of response does make sense coming from her" instead of the endless back and forth with absolutely no development from your average harem.
