Also I feel really conflicted about his future. On one hand, he seems to have redeemed himself at least partially, judging by the fact that he has a human eye in the last scene (although the fucked up reptile one with tentacles could've just been part of the blessing), but if he truly regretted his actions, wouldn't he accept his death? Do you think Ozen only has pins in her arms and legs? I can count around 20 visible pins on the arm we saw, there might be around 30 if they are also spread on the areas we can't see. Would there be more or less on a leg? She has pins for her finger grip strength but she probably doesn't need any for her feet. If she's going for a strength build then there really ought to be a few in her back and torso, and of course it would look a lot more aesthetic.

Fuck Spanish and fucks Spanish dubs. what I wanted to say, however, is that the characters' being children amplifies the emotional load carried by each scene hugely - children are way more naive and honest at perceiving reality and show emotions more sincerely, thus reading a story from the children's perspective makes the reader more inclined towards an emotional approach to the scenes shown, which leads to bigger contrast between admiring the beaty of the abyss and fearing its dangers

Sorry to reply so late but first I didn't see your post, then I had to write all this essay and English is not my mother tongue so it took some time.
Spoilers are moderate, I mean I'd still read the book knowing that, but unraveling the mystery and learning about it with characters is a great part about it.

Nightfall presents a planet which has a constant day due to being part of system with like 6 or 7 suns. Even at most gloomy days, at least 1 or 2 is illuminating every part of the planet. The inhabitants (no fantasy race, think normal humans, I don't remember any biological differences) literally know no night. When some amusement park constructs a room with no lights, people who experience complete darkness are scared shitless and left schizoid for like an hour straight from not even a minute of exposure to darkness.
Now, from the perspective of something close to 5 main characters, we learn that something happens with the planet in cycles. I remember 2 characters - archaeologist and astronomer. The latter discovers that every two thousand years (something close to that I believe), there happens to be a day when for a couple of hours, some asteroid blocks the light from the 2 only suns that can be seen that day. The archaeologist discovers some ruins that have a couple of layers and on the final part of each layer there is an engraving depicting some sort of cataclysm.
The time of THAT happening is close. Now imagine what happens.

I brought this up in another thread but I feel like he'd be a huge fan of The Time Machine if that were the case. The fantastic plotline guides us to a world beautiful and lush but hinting at a disturbing secret between the remnants of long-collapsed civilizations and the hillscapes dotted with odd tunnels, there's many surreal visuals and introspection on the mysteries of the world 800,000 years in the future.
Plus the Eloi sound like Tsukushi's ultimate wet dream, an entire race of flawlessly adorable lolis and shotas that spend every day playing, eating, bathing, and of course repopulating their race. Then at night they're harvested and cannibalized by mankind's subterranean descendants.
Really though, I'd pay him some pretty good money for a manga adaptation. He'd be doing it a hell of a lot better justice than either of the movies.

If you love anything even remotely sci-fi his famous literature is an absolute must.

As I know the man wrote over a hundred books in the course of his lifetime, but the only ones widely known out of their era and are still in print are the four most famous he started his writing career with: The Invisible Man, The Time Machine, The Island of Dr. Moreau, and War of the Worlds. I've only read the first two and just cracked open WotW the other day but the start is extremely promising.

The Invisible Man I think aged the poorest out of them all but still very worth reading because it really does cover all of the trials and impracticality of actually being invisible in a realistic setting, it's also great if you like watching men of science go gradually and completely fucking insane.

The Time Machine is brilliant and fantastic for the reasons I mentioned, but you'll be disappointed if you expect him to explore anything but the future. Still you have to read it, and though it'll likely leave you feeling a bit dismal you'll appreciate the experience.

I want to grab Dr. Moreau soon, based on the synopsis it's a must read for Bondrewdfags.
