I'd recommend a re watch, it has some surprising depth that you probably missed out on if you watched it back when it first aired 10 years ago and where probably in high school.

Essential anime women and sissies will never understand.

I stopped after first timeskip episode, where it's reveled that the guy who practically manages all the govt. in place of Simon thinks less of him, and uses force on citizens.

It was too damn clique.

Rossiu is a pretty tragic character really, hes a logical and practical guy in a world where emotion trumps logic every time. a sane man in an insane world, though its his own fault even after Simon shows him how the world really works he still clings to his idea of logic and rationality.

If anything, Simon was the rational one in the end. He's the one who actually put his girl on death row to save the universe.

It's a good anime, to be sure, but it's not the best of all time.

To me, there is no "best of all time" in any medium. I believe that there are many good shows that are near or on the same level as each other, and it is literally impossible for something to be "the best of everything forever of all time", because storytelling is such a wide and vast thing that to compare even two very familiar shows is like comparing apples to bananas. There's just too many variables.

Haven't watched the first movie but the second does the initial venture into space a lot better because the tv series kills the hype with a fucking cliffhanger.
