What makes you so sure?

Ithea went to be someone else. The one who took over maintained the Ithea persona. So the same could possibly happen to Chtholly. She might get glimpses of her past life granted she's not Elq's spirit anymore.

I love the bittersweetness of it all. Kutori was really a well done character.

I think there's a prerequisite to having a completely tragic end.

The characters needed to be full of shit to deserve it. But then again when you have characters like Willem and Chtholly, it's fucking injustice to just throw them down the pit and call it a day.

I feel the author just completely fucked up these two love birds so bad that it's a crime.

Chtolly felt really different in some ways. Most anime seasons I could point out one cute girl and just say she's "best girl" because she's cute and stuff. I can take these "best girls" and put them into a cute vacuum and they'll still be best girls because their cute traits are easily removed from the setting and story.

I can't do that with Chtolly. She's such a wonderfully written character that she fits perfectly into the world she's put in, and her dynamic with Willem and character development is amazing and heartwarming. Her personality and actions are inseparable from the plot, she IS the plot, which is why it feels strange to give her the "best girl" label that I've given other girls before, although I do absolutely like her a lot.

I like it better this way. The beautiful thing about this kind of sad story is the strong human virtues that the characters show in the face of doom and despair, how they can face the atrocity of the world with courage and love and pull through as well as they can. It's fun to see a bunch of assholes get what they deserve, but SukaSuka's kind of tragedy gives me a cathartic sense of bittersweet, that even when the world goes to shit, good virtues pay off.

Not really. She was just lucky enough to have the real Ithea's diary so she could learn about her mannerisms, speech and her experiences so she can imitate them the best as possible. But that wasn't really Ithea anymore. She didn't have any of the original Ithea's memories. I'd really, really love for Ctholly to get her memories back but I think at this point it's pretty much impossible. Willem should just commit suicide and reunite in the afterlife.

I guess I'll repost the spoilers once last time.

Ren & Willem get sent into a illusion-world made by the Shiantor, the first beast.
The Shiantor is actually Almaria and in this illusion they have to go through several events back 500 years ago, which is how they get to know what happened with Elq, end up freeing her, and setting Almaria to rest.
Because of this the Shiantor gets divided into both of them and they now become immortal, have beast powers, etc.
Due to Ren being a Fairy she is able to suppress the first beast's urges but Willem goes through a hard time.
Stuff happens and they get separated.
Willem's memories get wiped in order to keep the beast side in check and on a occasional series of events he ends up running a tavern with Elq.
Yes, Elq is alive again after being freed by Willem and Ren during the Shiantor's illusion and she finds her way to Willem.
Ren goes back to EbonCandle & Suwon and all of them start searching for Willem.
More stuff happens and the floating isle countries start to make experiments with the fairies in order to gain military advantage since the beasts that could reach Regles Aile are all practically destroyed by now.
The experiment goes wrong and Willem chooses to intervene using his beast powers, only to lose control and go berserk shortly after.
He then fights off against Rhan, Ithea, etc. and gets back-stabbed by Lakhesh with Senioris.
William then activates Senioris' Immortal Killer ability himself and gets sealed for X years.
EbonCandle can revive him but doing this would turn him into a beast which Ren says no.
Ren and Elq stay with Willem the entire time while he is asleep.
Vol.5 ends.
SukaMoka happens.
After some time and the events in SukaMoka, Willem manages to awake on his own, memories fully restored, and goes to the Fairy house.
On his way a girl that resembles Cthulhu falls on him and when he meets Naigrat he says a Tadaima line to which she answers with a Okaerinasai.

Tragedy is the requirement for all of the major swords, Seniorious was the strongest one so it required the most suffering. Also Kinslayer is just a quality that makes up the sword, that sword's name is Deperatio. All of the fairies have the same last name as the sword that they use.
