honestly, for myself i found Deadman Wonderland to be somewhat of a better Elfenlied. just imagine it as Elfenlied combined with powers not unlike the stuff from Tokyo Ghoul. surprisingly fun.

Try the anime (or at least a few episodes) then read the manga. I think both are shit from a technical standpoint and I would never rewatch it, but somehow the overall feeling and story (+anime opening) resonated really well with me at that time and made it 10/10. It's actually the show that got me into anime.

the main cast of characters are pretty shitty and so aren't their story arcs. The villains have ok stories. I liked it way better when I was younger and the gore was enough enough to hold my attention.

I watched it maybe a month ago and I liked it. It can be a little slow and retarded at times but overall I'd watch it again.

The bloodsploshion shit was the only stuff that really takes you out of the story.

The excessive gore both added and took away from the story. Sometimes it was good but other times it was comical how people would just get gibbed out of nowhere
