I've been reading a LOT of ISEKAIs, and a lot of Fantasy stories lately.

I'm a sucker for medieval fantasy, so I read what I have to, you know?

But goddamn, what is it with RIDICULOUS wishfulfillment in ISEKAI storylines. They're stupid as fuck- like the characters are overpowered as fuck, or are straight up Gary Stu tier characters.

One of them was "Hachinan tte, Sore wa Nai Deshou!"- which within a few chapters, the MC is filthy fucking rich many times over, has all the bitches lusting over his cock, and is one of the greatest wizards of his time, AND has a magical mansion, and a title and nobility.

Holy shit, man.

There's a lot of medieval fantasy and isekai series out there, more than I imagined, but goddamn, they're so...BAD, to average at best!

And they're all like 'SEE HOW AMAZING THE MC IS", without any build up.

Most of the translations we're getting are written by amateurs on the Japan equivalent to fanficiton.net. Many are writing as a hobby to literally escape reality, while others are using it as a quick way to gain a free fanbase before publishing, with little effort.

I don't believe this is a problem with the setting/"genre" itself, but with the current point in time we're in (where self-publishing is semi-viable) and the fact that isekai kinda does lend itself to make it easier to "escape" (but abusing that is more of the writer's fault than anything)

writing over there(Re:Monster, Ubau Mono) then you go with the manga. If not you go with the WN/LN most of the time since they're simply superior and don't translate well into manga.
