Lots of great moments ITT. I cried to a lot them, shit I even cry to stuff I don't think I'm supposed to. I might be suffering from depression. Anyway, what I didn't cry too but emotionally wrecked me nonetheless was Texhnolyze's ending. That was too much shit for me too handle.

Also, remember that episode of Kino's Journey about the poet from the melancholic country singing the song of sadness? I think that I can't watch that without ever crying.

But seeing as Diebuster is the sequel, it's nice to see how the characters connect. It really emphasises the theme regarding the transition of time which was immensely focused on during Gunbuster. By the end of Gunbuster, there's an ambiguous alure to how Earth may have changed throughout time, and during Diebuster, it uses its own themes of connection between people throughout time and the influence of people from the past on people of the present to connect with the ending of Diebuster. Therefore, despite the harrowing idea of change produced by Gunbuster, Diebuster solidifies the nature by which, yes, change occurs, but there are still attachments connecting people through these changes.

The reason the ending was so strong was wondering if humanity managed to survive and/or whether they remembered Noriko+Kasumi. Given the ridiculous sci-fi nature of Diebuster's time, everybody assumed it was post-ending, not pre-ending, and humanity did forget. Humanity got its head out of its ass and set that greeting up with a lot of prompting by L'alc so even if the one person who truly remembered the duo is gone, Noriko still got to come home to a humanity that can fight for itself even without her despite her not having been there for 10,000 years. Gunbuster wasn't the only one who retired that night, Noriko and Kasumi did too.
There was nothing wrong with the ending in Gunbuster and Diebuster's extra context did nothing to devalue that at all.

I was really lukewarm on this death and ending in general until pretty recently. Now looking back on it I really appreciate just how much this show focused on how pointless sacrifice and heroics really are in the grand scheme of things.

I think the reason I wound up doing a complete 180 on this death is I really like the touch of orga not really grasping the situation at all while everyone around him is freaking the fuck out.

Honestly, Orga's death didn't make me feel much at all.

It was just so drawn out and cheesy. Shino's death in comparison made me feel pretty bad.

Orga gets shot up, then spends like 2 minutes monologuing about how they have their whole future ahead of them before falling down and having blood trickle away from his pointed finger. It was so goofy.

I can kinda buy the theory that the monologue was him being delusional from bloodloss but even so, it was kinda a weak death for me.

I can get that though your exaggerating how long orga talked for, he only made a comment about being a good shot and moving forward before dying about 25 seconds in.
I really think mika had the saddest death though since it was him realizing all the people important to him and how far they had come too late. I think it winds up being the saddest cause he's realizing that the thing he had been sacrificing his body for, and losing comrades over including the one he did everything for was something they already had. I dont know something about seeing his final moments thinking about atra and kudelia just kind of fucked me up.

Nah, the Dangan Ronpa 3 seasons are both prequels and sequels to the first two games.
The DR1 anime is also a really poor adaptation.
