Literally, the genius of the show really comes through on the second viewing and the realization of how much of a manupulative passive-agressive cunt Anthy really is and how fake Utena's whole prince façade is, especially in the first episode.

Did you not realize how Utena seemingly is undisturbed by Saionji violently abusing his gf? Even with her whole "saving the damsels" stick?
Or how her first reaction to seeing her bff get humiliated and run off crying is not to go after her and try to console her but to challenge the person she thinks wronged her to a fight?
What kind of friend is that?
Or the fact Utena doesn't go to the cops or teacher or other students when she realizes people are passing this chick around like property?

And did you notice how weird it is that Saionji, a guy that seems to have no interest in any girls besides Anthy (and Wakaba but not really) and only cares about his rivalry with Touga would bother to post some random love letter he got on the wall to make fun of some fangirl?
It just isn't his style, so who could have posted that letter and why?
Don't you see, the game was rigged from the start.

Hell, Utena's whole first season climax is a farce, and so is it's message.
Utena seemingly learns that she shouldn't do something 'cuz people expect her to, but because she wants to (like dress in the male uniform), but what about what Anthy wants to do?
She is still a slave by the end of the season and Utena was apparently fighting "to get back herself" when she beat Touga, so how about Anthy? You know, the chick that is seemingly now Touga's sex slave?
Utena doesn't seem to actually care about Anthy but about how Anthy's status as a victim allows her to fulfill her prince fantasy.
Like a person that donates to a cause just so she can brag about it.

It is genius in some many level, damn I love this show.
