I learned hiragana and katakana and then started in kanji. Then I started thinking about how dumb you have to be to have an alphabet with thousands of complicated characters. It's pretty shit as a 9-5 job, you will spend all day hunched over a desk typing. It's even worse than usual for that sort of job, because hearing is also an integral part of the process so you can't listen to music or anything while you're doing it. As to the content side of things, for every interesting item you get to work on, expect to get 3-4 boring painful slogs. Captioning porn is a thing and it's not fun at all, especially because most places do not have Brazzers-tier budgets for microphones. I never landed any mega-church work, but apparently it's extremely research heavy and they're bad at giving lead time before the show airs.

Best story I have is that I got to caption the entire first season of Playboy Undercover. Which meant that for about a week I got to research /d/-level fetishes on a company computer as part of my job. If you ever see the series, the giantess episode is hilarious and the fireplay one is awesome.

On the otherside sometimes you'll get a three part Selling Yachts episode where a foreign couple that speaks in broken English argue with each other about buying a boat for more money than you'll ever make in this occupation.

I was the poster with the 200+ PTW and no, I don't have much of an issue getting through seasonal shit, I typically watch 5 or 6 shows per season and keep up. My issue is tackling older stuff during a season. Once I watch the seasonal stuff for the week I don't feel like watching other stuff, or I look at my list and have a hard time deciding what should be seen first and end up posting on /a/ all evening instead.

The only time I get a lot of shows watched off the backlog is those short times inbetween seasons or if it's a really shitty season where I'm only watching 1 or 2 shows or none at all
