If I wanna get into Lupin should I just start with the original series or is there a better jumping on point for someone new to the series?

I started with Part IV to get into it. The entire thing is episodic anyways so you can do as you wish.

Start with green jacket (the best series), obviously.

I think you're better off starting with a Red Jacket special, then green jacket (season 1) followed up by blue jacket (part IV)

First Contact is a pretty good place to start

Green Jacket is really short, so there's no reason not to just give it a run-through, but I like the retro-ness of the whole thing so I might be a little biased.
Whether you watch it or not, go right on to Red Jacket, then mix in a few of the specials and movies if you like it.

The original series is the best in my opinion, so starting there isn't a bad idea at all.
That being said though, the first episode starts in the middle of a scheme and doesn't handhold the viewer with stuff like "character introductions" and "backstory."
If you need those, you can start with First Contact or the Pilot Film.

Release order is the best way to do anything.

If only that were a feasible option.

Persona 5

If you are one of those people who really can't stand retro anime. what I did was watch the Ghibli film and then Lupin III (2015) and then The Woman Called Fujiko Mine and then all the movies going in reverse order.

Someone have a DL for the old series?Please ;_;

Green jacket is a good point as a lot of people have said, but it's a lot closer to what monkey punch wrote than basically everything that comes after it.

It is for the first couple of episodes, but that changes when Miyazaki and Takahata take the helm.
