Just finished it, thought it was pretty good desu, Anime doesn't seem get enough solid sci-fi, so it was a nice change of pace from waifu-shit and generic shonen #15251. Felt it went a bit off the rails when they made zaShunina into the big bad at the end, but I suppose they needed to create some sort of conflict to resolve the story.

Judging by Hanamori's reaction I thought the same thing, namely plan works (zaShunina is convinced not to take all humanity with him) -> Shindo goes instead, but now that I look back, the chronology seems different to me: Yukika is born, has abilities and manages to defeat zaShunina, but Shindo will have already been dead. It's annoying, since we're missing chunks of story and character motivations and got shonen-tier dialogue instead.

I would of preferred that as well, I meant more of an interpersonal conflict. It would of been a bit too "samey" if they simply retread the debates/discussions structure they had during the wam segment, for the other two pieces of technology, up until the end of the show, so that's why they went in the other direction instead. I would of still enjoyed it, the strongest point of the show definitely was the negotiations and exploration of the impacts/ramifications of the anisotropic.

This. It makes a lot more sense why he went to Japan knowing what his priorities were. Tokyo is still the biggest metropolitan region in the world (I think), and that's a lot of information crammed in a a very small area. Conveniently, it also helps if the world was more hostile, as he'd have a wide range of humans to use in his attempts to bring them to the anisotropic.

All of this series was reasonably competent, and even dumb shit like Tsukai could have easily been made to fit into the overarching narrative. Then they botched the landing so hard I can't think of a good metaphor, send help..
