I'd have to agree with you as of now. We are at the halfway point so things could change, but I'm really finding it hard to enjoy this show despite better production values that Genesis. I'm indifferent towards Charioce and Azazel and I find Nina annoying as fuck. Bahamut plays much like a roleplaying boardgame. The characters just kinda drift through life and we follow them while they screw up and try to survive. Hardly any information is kept from us (maybe Charioce's past but let's be honest nobody cares and it's probably irrelevant to the main plot anyways) that's why there's no room for discussion for specula.
It's also weird that, while each and every character has a distinct and known objective (become a bounty hunter, protect the people, protect the demons, save Mugaro, save his mother, etc) the characters still kinda feel like they lack drive you know? I'm not that invested in them. I don't really care about whether Nina succeeds in becoming a bounty hunter or not. I don't really care about Jeanne finding her kid. I don't really care about Favaro doing, whatever the fuck it is he wants. Same for Azazel and Kaisar. Maybe that has a lot to do with story focusing on SoL, I don't know. Still I can't say I don't have fun watching Bahamut, but it's a kind of fun that I think is very close to what you get while watching a looney tune episode.

Frankly, this is the exact reason I like VS so much.
In a normal show, the characters drive the plot. In this kind of show, the plot drives the characters. The focus is entirely on the characters because the plot is laid out. For example, if the Handsome Stranger x Nina arc were done in any other show, the question that viewers would ask is "who is this handsome stranger?". Instead, the question in VS you speculate on is "How will Nina react when she discovers the stranger is Chris?". It's a refreshing change from traditional narrative where you get to sit back and watch the trainwrecks, instead of being broadsided in the same traincar that the protagonist is in.
