Next episode in 5 hours, spoilers for ep 14 are out and there is no discussion whatsoever.
I'm summoning all three anons who watch it beside me.
>It's onsen episode
Hopefully they will have some nice girly talk about boys
I hope they talk about boys killing people then
Also it seems pic related wasn't Afro's afro after all.
Here, have an exploitable.
They can connect by how both their boyfriends left them both for dead in the most crucial situation. Except one really couldn't make it while the other just didn't give a fuck.
The lens is slightly off, my bad.
There aren't many watching this?
I never visited the threads but always assumed it was popular. I mean it has action, cute girls that aren't boring and the presentation is kinda good.
No, there are plenty of people watching this on /a/. When the episode airs the threads have plenty of posters and we usually go through two threads since the first one always hits the limit. To be fair though, a lot of those posts are just the same arguments every week. I don't know how popular it is outside of here.
The problem is, there is nothing to discuss. Every thread there are the same arguments against and in favor of Charioce and his actions. The pacing is also pretty slow so one or two threads are enough to discuss current events and share speculations.
Every thread is literally the same.
Yeah that was the reason why I wasn't in the threads. I love this series but there isn't much I could say about it. It isn't really a specular series or has shocking scenes or anything and most of /a/'s posts are about shipping and waifus anyway.
Well it's a fantasy anime but without a op 15yo MC who gather a party of cute and young girls to defeat some anicent evil so of course it doesn't do well.
thankfully this >>159470007
I mean Genesis was a flop as well but that didn't stop based MAPPA and Cygames from giving us Virgin Soul. And they didn't half ass this series either. Plot and characters aside, the show looks gorgeous and is pretty consistent in that regard.
90% of the posts on /a/ are about "who is best girl" and most arguments are about which one has the biggest boobs or ass... so yeah, hard to do that in a thread about SnB.
I'd have to agree with you as of now. We are at the halfway point so things could change, but I'm really finding it hard to enjoy this show despite better production values that Genesis. I'm indifferent towards Charioce and Azazel and I find Nina annoying as fuck. The only good part about this show is Kaisar, Rita and Favaro who are constantly shoved aside for Nina and Charioce's shitty romance. There's Jeanne too, but despite getting some development she's still as boring as she was in Genesis.
Why isn't Favaro the main character
Why are the characters from season 1 put in background
King and dragon girl aren't interesting and that shit drama with them and they are season 2 only characters
Where is the WORLD BUILDING, the whole second season is in ONE FUCKING HUMAN CITY
The world building is so much better in VS
They fixed everything wrong with Genesis
You are right about Favaro though he should still be the focus the best characters are still the originals.
Nina is good though.
>The world building is so much better in VS
No it's not. There's barely any focus given to anything beyond the MCs and their drama. It hinted at some social conflict but then promptly dropped all those ambitions to reveal it was just a backdrop for shitty romance.
>They fixed everything wrong with Genesis
No, VS is shit in its own unique way, it didn't "fix" anything that actually needed fixing. Like the main cheroine.
>Favaro and Nina interactions
I would not. Favaro is a fucking sleezebag and all he ever does is trying to get into Nina's pants.
>Favaro generally brings out the best from other characters.
Not really, maybe except acting as a foil for comedic relief scenes.
This. Their master/student dynamic is pretty entertaining. It's a shame Favaro is missing again right after he got out of prison. He really does bring out the best in other characters.
> all he ever does is trying to get into Nina's pants
Are we watching the same show? He made a joke about her breasts getting bigger.
The world building was shite in Genesis, by far the weakest part. This time we are actually introduced into different factions etc in one place that aren't pantomime villains.
The weakest part of Genesis was the demons, which VS turned into something kind of cool.
Other anon was right to say they also gutted the best aspects as well as removing the worst, making VS feel more like a mild medium.
>The only good part about this show is Kaisar
Please tell me what is good about Kaisar and his wishy-washy muh chivalry vs loyality to muh king conflict? (PS. loyality to muh king always wins in the end because lap dog mentality). Kaisar has done exactly fuck all since the start of the season with the exception of charging between Charioce and Azazel for the purpose of a cool action scene. And this pathetic do nothing is supposed to be the moral compass of this story? Meh. I'm also indifferent toward Favaro and Rita is almost too competent, makes other characters look really bad by comparison and makes you wonder why couldn't they just make her the protagonist.
You might be memeing but here's hoping. They are certainly aware of the faults in Genesis but they could've capitalised on the good parts much better.
I feel like if people like or dislike VS comes down to how palatable they find Nina
Bahamut plays much like a roleplaying boardgame. The characters just kinda drift through life and we follow them while they screw up and try to survive. Hardly any information is kept from us (maybe Charioce's past but let's be honest nobody cares and it's probably irrelevant to the main plot anyways) that's why there's no room for discussion for specula.
It's also weird that, while each and every character has a distinct and known objective (become a bounty hunter, protect the people, protect the demons, save Mugaro, save his mother, etc) the characters still kinda feel like they lack drive you know? I'm not that invested in them. I don't really care about whether Nina succeeds in becoming a bounty hunter or not. I don't really care about Jeanne finding her kid. I don't really care about Favaro doing, whatever the fuck it is he wants. Same for Azazel and Kaisar. Maybe that has a lot to do with story focusing on SoL, I don't know. Still I can't say I don't have fun watching Bahamut, but it's a kind of fun that I think is very close to what you get while watching a looney tune episode.
Its nice to see someone else say this, it's the line I've been repeating ever since episode 1 of Genesis. It feels so much like a DnD campaign you can tell the writers are into that shit.
I just think it would look better with farms around the city instead of flat green lands (or big rocks). I care about the aesthetic not the functionality.
I've been traumatized by Minas tirith
>Are we watching the same show? He made a joke about her breasts getting bigger.
And that's basically all his character amounts to: a manwhore joke character. The problem with him and Nina is exactly the same, they are uninvolved in anything, they lack the drive and are more involved in their own small little lives while the narrative forces them to come out of their comfort zones. The problem is that Favaro took the initiative by this time while Nina is still essentially just a tagalong.
The hinterlands that feed a city are not always directly outside its walls you know that right? Cities are built up over time, relying on networks of trade often coming from areas that specialise in certain types of produce.
They merely showed glimpses of the world in Genesis, it lacked depth with its episodic format. VS had the potential to expand on that but they missed out by shifting the focus to develop a political drama instead. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but ultimately it seems both seasons had different visions from the get go.
Sorry I'm retarded I didn't even read your post properly. I agree cities with farms outside their walls look prettier, it's a comfy feel seeing all that infrastructure physically there.
Good worldbuilding is letting you get to know a place and the different social forces going on there. Bad world building is "these are the good guys" "these are the bad guys" "These are the hoomans".
>This time we are actually introduced into different factions etc in one place that aren't pantomime villains
Such as?? The demons? They don't have a single voice in this show, they are just bloody props or fodder. The angels? They are literally exactly the same as in S1 and get even less agency and involvement than they did, with a small exception that now they have ONE (1) a bit more fleshed out character among their ranks.
>The weakest part of Genesis was the demons, which VS turned into something kind of cool.
What are you talking about? It's the exact opposite. Current demons are pathetic no-characters with the sole purpose to bait the viewer into thinking this series is trying to tell something about slavery or whatever.
I don't think it's actually physically possible for someone to prefer the demons in Genesis to Virgin Soul's. You must just be memeing because you are salty Favaro got replaced by a slut dragon, or you literally have no recollection of Genesis.
During the scene where Charioce was unleashing his weapon I could just hear the game master going "and then you all fall onto a big black hundreds of meters wide ball. It is made of material most of you have never seen before, completely alien. And then the foreign scriptures scattering it start lighting up and the giant black ball starts moving around, transforming and stuff, like it's about to unleash something. Everyone roll your dice to see if you can hold your feet"
It literally takes the first 20 seconds of ep 7 of Genesis to know what kind of demons one should prefer. Demons in Virgin Soul are quite literally a fucking nothing. Not to mention Belzebuth and his cool heavy metal stage.
Kaisar and Favaro are interesting to watch.
Dragon slut and racist king aren't fun to watch.
There isn't any worldbuilding, both dragon place and human city are boring to watch.
Demons and angels are onedimensional and there are plot holes in the way they act.
Drama with dragon slut and racist king is badly written.
Oh I see, that makes sense.
>Drama with dragon slut and racist king is badly written
Maybe that's because there isn't any?
Charioce doesn't give a fuck, if anything Nina opposing him only seems to enamorate him further with her free spirit and Nina is still after his dick even though she disagrees with him.
Don't post that, I'm trying to repress the memory of it.
If I could I'd print it, frame it, and hang it in your room anon. Everybody should aknowledge and be a witness to this masterpiece of sequential art that will be remembered for centuries to come.
One day, you'll understand the magnificence of this panel.
>The characters just kinda drift through life and we follow them while they screw up and try to survive.
>Hardly any information is kept from us
Frankly, this is the exact reason I like VS so much.
In a normal show, the characters drive the plot. In this kind of show, the plot drives the characters. The focus is entirely on the characters because the plot is laid out. For example, if the Handsome Stranger x Nina arc were done in any other show, the question that viewers would ask is "who is this handsome stranger?". Instead, the question in VS you speculate on is "How will Nina react when she discovers the stranger is Chris?". It's a refreshing change from traditional narrative where you get to sit back and watch the trainwrecks, instead of being broadsided in the same traincar that the protagonist is in.
>a bizzare, badly written mess
Fits my definition of romance to a T.
Nah but seriously I appreciate it because it's bizarre. It's bizarre but It totally works. Charioce is pathetically lonely and starved for human interaction, while Nina is a hormonal teenager starved for sexual and romantic intimacy. He's a king and she's a shapeshifting dragon. You have to admit it's a nice change from the usual bland high schoolers. I for one at least, am welcoming it.
I knew you would out yourself as a pathetic shipper in a matter of a post or two. It's so sad that the only people who win in this situation are retarded shippers like you who get their OTP sailing even though a good writer would never allow for it under these circumstances. While casual watchers remain baffled and uninvested in this confused shitty romance. Also.
>Charioce is pathetically lonely and starved for human interaction,
VS may be a mess in many ways, but it's still my AOTS and every episode feels like 5 minutes. I know I'm going to miss these Fridays once it ends.
Dramatic irony has been around for a while though. From Ulysse hiding his identity from his wife in the Odyssey, to Oedipus Rex, to Some like it Hot. Ultimately those are just different strategies to grab the viewer's attention. But I wouldn't say either are more traditional than the other.
>she was a gull
>he was a buoy
>can I make it any more obvious
I genuinely hope to see more continuations of Bahamut. Both seasons might have their own flaws, but they're both my personal AOTSs, it's made with love and care and you can tell they had great fun with it.
At the end of VS we will get a reveal that Favaro still has his tail. That's actually the reason why he was abducted by the Onyx Knights, someone reported him as a demon pretending to be human.
Him still having his tail means his contract with Amira is still valid, which means she is still alive inside the Bahamut. S3 will be about Favaro taking her out of him.
If Cheerios is so starved for interaction why didn't he come to visit Nina during the two weeks of her stay in the prison? Why did he leave her to die when the prison got demolished? Why didn't he tell his knights not to kill her like he did with Kaisar? Why is there such a huge dissonance between what the narrative tries to push and what's actually shown on screen?
ravioli ravioli, i wanna fuck the zombie loli
You're absolutely right. That doesn't bother me like it usually woudl though for some reason. I wonder why.
I wouldn't say I'm shipping though. Shipping is a word you use in works where there isn't any, or very little, romance so you project some on some characters, hope and root for them to get together. But really here I'm just appreciating the romantic scenes the show is giving us. That doesn't make me a shipper.
There are quite a few scenes that hint to this. Maybe you didn't notice because you were too busy lamenting his having screentime.
>what is internal conflict between romantic interest and the law/his country's best interests and what do you mean fleshing out a character's contradictions make him interesting
Did you also wonder why Hamlet spent half his piece soliloquing instead of avenging his father right away? Well of course I'm not comparing Charioce to Hamlet but you get my point.
If you weren't such a myopic retard you'd notice that there aren't any chairs beside his so no, he's not really starved for company.
Get a load of this shipperfag.
>retards getting mad that people have ships their dedicated to in a romance anime.
What did you asexuals think would happen when all the character are attractive and perfect for each other?
Hasn't he? Then why is he going outside in disguise? Why did he accept going on a date with Nina?
Just because he's not conscious of it or uncomfortable with it doesn't mean he isn't.
>Then why is he going outside in disguise?
To stare angrily at his mother's grave without being disturbed.
>Why did he accept going on a date with Nina?
Why would he refuse a eager pussy?
>character and relationship writing is bad but there're sappy romance scenes so it's okay
Shippers, not even once.
>SnB has already flopped, and it is flopping even harder now
sigh why is this thread even existing anymore.
nothing but disappointment
>If he was a protagonist
>everyone would be calling him a mary sue.
They are. The not retarded ones.
Still waiting for this goddamned main character to be fleshed out at least a little.
Okay, the visuals for the second OP seems good enough but holy shit the song is fucking shit. Why aren't we getting something more like S1?
And why the fuck is there not even a bit of hint of Amira?
>And why the fuck is there not even a bit of hint of Amira
I'm guessing she's either never going to pop up or they are saving her and Bahamut for the finale. In the OP everyone is turning towards the moon at the end, and we see in the earlier eps that Bahamut's likeness seems to be carved into the moon. Maybe that's hinting at something?
The new OP is pretty cartchy, I like it.
Much better than Warped Tour tier nu-metal shit that was the first one.
>Shipping is a word you use in works where there isn't any, or very little, romance so you project some on some characters, hope and root for them to get together
Not true at all, at least not nowadays. Shipping is being a faggot about two character's relationship, canon romance or not.
same Metal shit was pretty annoying to be, at least the new Op is tolerable with decent animation. but cliche.
Also, what does he mean by these tears mean?
She wishes Favaro would gtfo from her time with Kaisar.
Mappa does it again
Kaisar looks good.
Favaro looks good, business bullfighter.
Nina is the best female MC of all time
They are ruining Nina by forcing this romance. I like her, but her retarded crush on literally Hitler the King is unbearable. Whoever thought that writing an unlikable soulless monster as the love interest was a good idea deserves to be fired.
The post-credits scene shows Charioce at Abos, the signs are pointing towards Amira returning to this dimension soon.
>Azazel and Cheerio next to each other.
>one of her favorites
I know nigga, he didn't have screentime yet and you were hating on her for liking bland dreamboats along with Charioce, but now he's sort of shit in the most human way.
It's ok, I know men that have actual ambition and don't just let their race die out while being slaves so others can thrive at their expense scare wet noodle nu-males like you.
So here we go. The king is actually trying to stop something from happening.
What could it be?
It's alright. Everything is gonna be ok. Let's settle for a moment and think about it, the solution will come to us
None of that is even the reason why Nina likes him, and he wasn't ever talking about the quality of the character, just that he's a bad love interest.
>wet noodle nu-males like you.
Are guys like this not the ones who project themselves onto Cheerios the hardest? No worries. I'm really secure with myself so I don't have to cling to the Fuhrer as a means of regaining masculinity.
He seems a little bit worried this time tho.
You will never wake up next to her.
I know people are going to attack you, but you're right. Virgin Soul has the exact opposite problem that Genesis had where it's pacing is too fucking slow. Where's Favaro? What's Kaisar's plan? What's Rita up to? Is Azazel still being tortured? Why do they expect us to care about that fuccboi knight? Jeanne and Nina are so fucking boring.
I wanted to come up with something humourous but I'm too tired. What did he see, /a/ ?
except that it looks nothing like the green magic and why would it leak from underground in the middle of nowhere like this.
she's cute but she was way sexier when evil
what did they mean by this?
my wife Jeanne can't be this perfect!
They need to pick up the fucking pace. 14 episodes in and shit has barely happened aside from the short Angels vs Charioce battle. This felt like a purely filler ep. Also why didn't Kaisar tell Dias that Jeanne was locked away in a secret prison? Isn't that kind of an important fact?
Reminds me of this
>Also why didn't Kaisar tell Dias that Jeanne was locked away in a secret prison? Isn't that kind of an important fact?
Not really anymore tho.
-She's already gone anyway.
-Most of the knights didn't give a shit when she was ban (some even helped doing that).
-Causing problems now would be bad for the Orleans knigts so it's better if they keep it down.
Shoujo eye sparkles
I want churros to stroke my face too
>I'd like to know how he's doing
Cheerios has him chained in his bedroom dungeon, whre he routenely sodomizes Azazel
Why is everyone crying in this OP
Same but at least everyone appears.
That would be the shittiest of writing in this case.
wait ok $2?
But seriously I don't think so, if it was that it would be the green magic leaking around the capital or the weapon not some weird light in the middle of a crater (possibly where bahamut was sealed).
It could be an interesting sub plot actually
It's like spider legs in your vision all the time.
Jesus fuck anon. Were you even looking at the visuals in the ED? Literally all Disney movies
How much is she going to regret saying that shit to Nina?
$50 says Chariot is going to pull a Well-Intentioned Extremist.
>Not really anymore tho.
No, it IS important that Kaisar for fucking ONCE recognises that Cheerios has done some wrong shit. It's like Kaisar is physically unable to point a finger at cheerios and call him out on his shit. Same goes for Jeanne. Why the fuck is Cheerios so impervious for narrative criticism? It's like Azazel and Nina were the ONLY two characters who ever said Cheerios has done something bad. And look how that turned out. Azazel is gone and Nina is sucking his dick. I'm so sick and tired of this retarded cheerios wank.
This episode was great. New OP/ED cheesy but emotional. Jeanne admitting to Nina that even saints are full of contradictions. Good lull in the village after last week's climax.
I'd rather assume that he bit off more than he could chew. My guess is that whatever is the issue they're inspecting in that scene, chances are Cheerios had a finger in making it an issue to begin with.
I can imagine her screaming at herself
>FUCKING CHRIST JEANNE YOU DID IT AGAIN
>YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE A SAVIOR
>FIRST YOU KILL HIGHEST RANKING ANGELS AND NOW YOU LET YOUR ONLY FEMALE FRIEND FALL IN LOVE WITH LITERAL HITLER
>(possibly where bahamut was sealed).
That's exactly where it is. They went to Abos at the end, it's where where Bahamut was sealed. The anons who speculated that the green magic wakes up Bahamut who comes down to clense the world from that shit might be on to something.
Why are they trying to pretend Cheerios is humanized when he's been nothing but an unsympathetic psychopath?
think for 2s... what good would come from him telling this guy that Jeanne was in jail?
(Some of) The Orleans Knighs would rebel?
They would all die or be arrested because they can't do shit again all the other soldiers and they would be disbanded... that's pretty much it.
Plus they have no proof of Jeanne being in jail... since you know, she's not.
Kaizer is naive but not a complete idiot and not a warmonger.
The theme with the rotten prince who gets rejected by the heroine fits Nina much better than shitty Cinderella story.
Watched the whole thing.
They're not pretending. Though it's subtle, he's been humanized for a while now.
Hell he didn't even fire his barber this episode.
Charioce and Chris are the same person. Chris was a nice, normal human being to Nina for no ulterior motives.
Last episode, Charioce gently hugged, touched, and held Nina. This episode Jeanne just mentioned that everyone has many sides to them. You faggots are willfully ignoring the show.
Does that mean Nina's dad was a handsome ikemen? If so why did he have such shit taste in women. Either that or his wife aged horribly. Also Nina had daddy issues and Charioce has mommy issues. Match made in heaven right there.
Anon, Gabriel all but says it was impossible for humanity to rebuild Dromos on its own, and the Gods have repeatedly been saying how forbidden using Dromos was. It is more likely than not that this is the result of Cheerios rebuilding and using Dromos, not that he was trying to prevent this.
I WANT TO MARRY NINA
>what good would come from him telling this guy that Jeanne was in jail?
It would make Kaisar and his writing appear less retarded. It's not even important that the other knights know about it, it's important for Kaisar's character arc to not be such a fucking mindless drone and say it outloud: shit, the king imprisoned Jeanne! I don't know what the fuck is going on with this show, it's like there's censorship from ever talking outloud about cheerios misdeeds, it's a taboo, a topic we do not talk about.
> The anons who speculated that the green magic wakes up Bahamut who comes down to clense the world from that shit might be on to something.
lol it's even more retarted than the show
Bahamut already comes to the world regularly when the green shit was not there so why did he come the last times? Cleanse something else? Should they not also ban this then?
Charioce knowing about Bahamut coming back because the seal made last time was shit and then using the green magic (and ol forbidden knowledge) to stop it would make way more sense.
Of course, the green magic being also bad would turn against Charioce in the end.. and Nina saves the day. the end.
But that's the thing, Nina isn't rejecting him. She loves him. She embraces everythinh of him, rotteness included.
There's no parallel to be made with Utena, where neither Anthy nor Utena love Akio. The prince they used to love is a shadow, an ideal who ceased to exist when Akio was "born".
>you'll never be Nina and experience your first love with based Charioce
Jannu-sama is pretty stacked.
>this entire post
Did you miss how he didn't give a fuck about as little as answering her question why did he deceive her? How he told her to stay put and watch her friends get beaten to death? How he didn't stop his knights from beating the shit out of her, how he didn't give a shit to cover her naked ass after she went human? how he didn't give a shit to evacuate her from the prison? I do not buy their hamfisted romantic scenes for a second. He didn't do a slightest thing, a SLIGHTEST THING within his power to aid her at any point in the entire situation. he treats her no better than any of the other characters who had the misfortune of crossing their paths with him. Everything about this ship is so fake and hollow it makes me gag every time they push it.
>I-i-i-i-i-i-it's SUPPOSE to bad
>I-i-i-i-i-i-it's not rushed shit at all
>T-t-t-t-t-t-there's nothing cringey about it
>Charioce knowing about Bahamut coming back because the seal made last time was shit and then using the green magic (and ol forbidden knowledge) to stop it would make way more sense.
It doesn't make a lick of sense considering that he uses the magic primarily for his own interests. Cheerios has barely any knowlege of the actual Bahamut event, he wouldn't even know how and where to monitor unless he stunbled upon the area after one of his conquests.
>Sees that Cheerios and Nina are dancing.
>Suddenly everything about the ending is absolute shit in every way. There is absolutely nothing good about it.
You fags ruined TG threads. The only times they were good were when speedreaders started stirring shit up.
>Genesis ending is a melancholy song about Amira thinking what her home and mother will be like when she completes her journey
>Virgin Soul's ending is a shitty dance party
How the might has fallen
Kaisar is such a bromance magnet.
