Shit son, that's some dedication. Well, it definitely shows, to say the least. Haven't read the manga, but what I've seen from a few threads here seemed rather authentic and accurate. I'll be watching this one with great interest, might even pick up the manga. One thing I have to hand the Japanese is that when they portray other cultures in their works, they either don't try at all and it ends up hilariously cliché, or they go full on historical accuracy autism mode. The fact that they touch on topics that might be obscure for outsiders (Devşirme, Yeniçeri etc.) who only have a shallow interest definitely piqued my interest.

I don't really watch a lot of seasonal anime, but I'll be checking this one out.

Shoukoku no Altair has been my favorite manga for years; never imagined that it would get an anime because the scope becomes so massive that there's almost no way a studio would be able to pull it off. And the one that went for it is freaking Mappa? I still don't think they're going to be able to give it justice, but here's to hoping. Especially since the weakest chapters are the first 20, and the civil war arc isn't even that spectacular. I hope they at least make it to the city of mercenaries.
