Dies irae anime is suppose to be done by Artland.\
Is Dies irae cancelled then?

what the fuck? Anime is dead
>>159462211
Yes. No dies irae
>>159462327
What? how is this legal to not do?
At least they did Mushishi

Nope A.C.G.T.
>>159462060
>ceased operations as of June 30

It's starting. The collapse of the anime industry.
Only the strong shall inherit the otaku/fujo bucks.

wait, so who's working with LoGH? I thought it was Artland
>>159462370
>what is bankrupcy laws
everything you said you'd do no longer counts
>>159462494
The episodes should still be in the can and ready to go. They probably just wrapped up finishing what they needed to so it can air, so a mediocre booby anime was their last.
>>159462513
cant just Artland merge with a bigger company like what Pepsi and Loft did?

They could if they got an offer. A manager will usually go through the process of looking for a sponsor / buyer before declaring bankrupcy though.

One anime studio down, a bajillion more to go.

They did the original LoGH and Macross too.
>>159462573

>>159462610
There's people in America who get that back as tax refunds. Why can't anime have some rich benefactors; people will sink 2.5m in some horrible Jackson Pollack in a fucking second, along with the rest of even worse modern art.
>>159462060
Yeah, two recap episodes in a 1-cour series; it was pretty much a given that it was Artland.

I mean, yeah. It sounds silly. I hope it's not the other way and a third of a billion dollars.

How can a company that produces products with wide international appeal be this poor. They might need to rethink their business model.

They don't own any of the products.
Anime studios are just contractors for production committees.
>Production commitees wants to make an anime
>negotiates with multiple studios
>agrees with a studio
>pays a certain sum
>studio makes anime
>Commitee gets all the profit.
In some cases the studio is part of the commitee but in such cases it is normally a low ranking member (gets only a small cut of the profits).
>>159462753
Better than Gonzo or Manglobe
>>159462753
Could be worse. Like, still existing and being forced to make more shitty softcore yuri hentai to make ends meet.
I hope all the animators land safely somewhere. I wish them luck in their future endeavors. I loved Mushishi very much.
>>159462701
They wont even allow us to spend money on them
>>159462788
Gonzo will never die for real and permanently.
>>159462768
That's the problem. They do all the creative work but get no royalties.
The contract they accept is practically slavery wages.
The industry as it is now is strongly in the favor of producers and investors, they need to push back or they'll get picked off one by one.
>>159462788
>Manglobe
>Samurai Champloo
>Ergo Proxy
>Michiko to Hatchin
>Samurai Flamenco
>Gangsta.
What's wrong with Manglobe? Michiko and Gangsta were pretty mediocre but they did good work imo
>>159462835
They also carry no risk.
They need to invest money to get on the committee, but have not enough money to take the risk.
>>159462753
What yuri hentai anime did they make anyway?
>>159462060
Goodnight sweet prince
>>159462753

>>159462940
Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai
>>159462835
How are they gonna push back if they're just dumb shitty otaku who are notorious for having no backbone?
No, the obvious solution is to work harder, until they fall ill or even drop dead.
Perhaps this will cause the producers to appreciate their sacrifices more and give them another job.
Haha.
>>159462940
Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai
What a shitty swan song.
>>159462494
Damn, that is sad.I liked it.
>>159462835
>>159462933
Animation studios are usually part of the committee for most non late-night anime.
I have been out of the loop for awhile, but what are the actual implications of this? From what I remember, aside from a few studios like KyoAni, the vast majority of animation studio staff are independent contractors. Further, most studios themselves are just being contracted for cheap anime by independent contractors. Sure, this must suck for the owner of the studio and the few permanent employees, but I don't see how this would be anything more than a blip for the anime industry.
>>159463077
Only the bigger successful ones who have good connections with the producers.
>>159462652
>people will sink 2.5m in some horrible Jackson Pollack
Most big art deals are literally money laundering schemes.
Sounds like they were banking on Muishi making money but it didn't.
Rest in peace. I'm very glad they managed to finish Mushi-shi before going under.
>>159463019
>>159463034
Shame about all the cowtits.
>>159463077
They are also far bigger than your average late night studio.
>>159463105
Nothing, really. It's just doom-and-gloom saying, because people are bored and want to create artificial drama.
There's also shit ton of small studios doing nothing but inbetweening or backgrounds closing every year, but nobody talks about them.
And then new studios pop up, and some few even manage to become noticeable enough over the years.
Wait who is doing the LoGH reboot if it isn't them? Weren't they remaking the series like next year?

Son, your cancerous taste is embarrassing.
>>159462060
Here's what I don't get: in the U.S., declaring bankruptcy doesn't necessarily mean the end of the company (there are two main kinds, Chapter 11 which is reorganization and doesn't necessarily mean the company dies, and Chapter 7 which is liquidation and does mean the end). But in Japan, bankruptcy is always game over? There's no equivalent of Chapter 11 over there?
>>159462865
Almost all of their shows were only popular in the West and flopped in Japan.
>>159462060
>298 million in debt
Jesus Christ. How can they possibly pay for that?
>>159463399
>How can they possibly pay for that?
There's a reason they declared bankruptcy, anon.
>>159463399
Normally, you file bankruptcy specifically because you CAN'T pay for that.
>>159463105
Literally nothing, basically a small studio got out of business because of poor performances.
Just capitalism weeding out shitty players.

>>159463105
Not a lot, Artland was well past its prime, the fact that the studio had to outsource 90% of their work really (according to the >ANN article) is telling about their state prior to declaring bankruptcy. I'd imagine that a lot of their old talent either left the studio altogether or is at Satelight.
>>159463485
angiospermae reproduce sexually already
don't dodge the question you motherfucker
>>159463476
>hurr durr I'm a retard
Sin has nothing to do with your shounen manga. In fact the figures came before and the anime was announced before your shitty midget manga started
>>159463546
There is literally nothing wrong with radioactive mutation.
>>159463105
Nothing. People do not know that there are hundreds of studios out there. Even KyoAni is composed of KA itself and Animation Do, and there are companies that specialize in in-betweening animation and other processes in producing an anime series. There's also the fact that Gainax's "death" created Khara, Trigger and Gonzo, and pieces of J.C. Staff and SHAFT created Silver Link.
Artland is a loss, but the industry is still hundreds of studios strong.
>>159463556
I have no idea what you're talking about. I haven't read either manga or watched either anime.
In other words, the world continues to spin, some things die, some new things are born.
Business as usual.
Now, if this year actually saw a dozen or more renowned anime studios closing down for similar reasons, then it's something to be concerned about.
>>159463623
Then, shut the fuck up instead of making retarded comments about shit you know nothing about
It's just a studio. The actual Mushishi director is still alive and kicking handling capeshit.
LoGH is being done by a different studio already and Kawamori is working Satelight for the Macross shit.
>>159463672
You're ridiculously angry for no reason, anon.
It's pretty late at night, maybe you should get some sleep.
>>159463690
Actually it's 10 AM where I live and I just woke up
And I say saying shit you know nothing about is a pretty good reason to call you out on your bullshit
>>159463683
Pretty much this. In fact, this allows talent from the late Artland to spread out into other aspiring studios like dead animals giving nutrition to plants when they decompose. Eventually, some no-name studio will benefit from the experienced talent and their big break starts there.
>>159463732
>I just woke up

That's fucking hilarious
Does this mean a different studio can make a reboot of Reborn?

>>159462699
>21 million yen (about US$184,000)
I mean wow, that's basically nothing, all things considered.
I know the industry is know for their low pay, but how? Even without overhead, that's at most a dozen people.
>>159464320

I feel sorry for them.
>>159464450
Seven Mortal Sins was selling decently, right? Sold better than even Re:Creators.
>>159464493
So what if it sold decently? They're still shit at handling finances and providing an acceptable service.
>>159464393
So? As i said, i clarified that i meant without overhead (which would include taxes, both on the income and on payroll) and 'at most' with the people.
I mean, realistically, with 184k income, even assuming its after taxes already, that's maybe enough for 6 full time employees at most, and even that is generous.
>>159464532
Animators get paid super shitty usually. Also, Wiki says they had 11 employees total.
>>159462060
I'm always glad when a trash studio dies, maybe we're getting a bit less of those worthless cheap garbage a dying studio is responsible for.
>>159463683
So, you want to say, the animation industry operates similar to the fansubbing cartel?
>>159464731
No chance for that, unfortunately.
What happens is that some other studio will just get the contract to create whatever trash anime the sponsors want to see being made.
>>159462060
Sooooo, Sin anime never will be finished even in they managed to draw last two episodes? No wonder they had two recaps in 12 episodes anime, one with live action sequences.
so i take it as it is not that they are unable to find profit or their sales is bad but more of how shitty they are at handling their finances. If you dont have business sense or knack for it it doesnt matter what kind of business you do.
>>159462701
Set your boxset prices to ~20$ and only then I will consider buying it.

It doesn't matter much if an anime studio shuts down. The artists just go to work for another studio or they freelance. As long as production committees have money they can always find an anime studio to create a new show.

If they demanded higher wages, their jewish overlords are going to be pissed. Instead of making 10 shitty anime per season, they'll only make 5 shitty anime, pretty much doubling their risks.
What will happen to the LOGH remake now?
>>159471201
If they haven't even started production, it might go to another studio like what happened with Mardock scramble.
If they're half finished or something, they'll finish it after they settle their debt just like what happened with Genocidal organ.
Sci-fi anime must be cursed or something.
>Artland
Never heard of them. What did they do?
>LoGH
>Mushishit
Good riddance.
>>159468833
>Now show me where ANN says anything about bankruptcy?
Sorry, I can't do that since I don't go to their site or even ironically read their worthless clickbait garbage.
>>159470687
>>159469473
Thanks.
>>159471776
>Never heard of them.
Shame.
>>159462060
>no more Mushishi
This isn't how I wanted it to end, lads
Shit sucks. They have made a fuckton of great shows.
How is this even happening with the anime production industry supposedly being crushed by workload?
Were they on production committees themselves or what?
>>159462060
What a shame, I really love Mushishi and while LoGH had a terrible last quarter, I still enjoyed it. Shame that their last show was that Sins shit, they must have been desperate for nippon shekels.
>>159469525
REEEEEEEEEEE MY SELF INSERT IS NOT AS COOL AS THE FRIEND CHARACTER
HOW CAN I EVER RECOVER I NEEEEEED MY CHARACTER TO BE THE BEST AND HAVE ALL THE GRILLS
So what do they actually have the rights to? cause someone might buy them out, probably NTV.
>>159471201
>>159471313
JESUS. Read the thread, fag. The Remake will be done by I.G since the beginning.
>Sci-fi anime must be cursed or something.
No shit. That's why Nips can just easily popped up multiple SoL CGDCT series every season even from very small studios.
>>159473567
Studios don't have rights to anything, the production committees do.
>>159471939
So you haven't even read the article, but you commented about it like complete retard you are. You're only making it only worse.
Next time just try hiding these threads.
>>159472290
They already adapted the whole manga. There wouldn't be more anyway
I'll be the umpteenth person saying this, but I'm glad they saw Mushishi to its completion.
>>159471151
Get out
If studios don't follow kyoani business model soon they will go bankrupt as well.
>>159463369
The only thing embarassing here is you.
I'm probably the only single person wrap liked Sin, I even started tho order the BDs. You can all die fuckers, I care about my semen demons more than you.
>>159474196
I liked it too
I'd give it a 7/10
Maybe 8/10 if I ignore the 2 recaps and delayed ending
>>159462060
>will be completely bought out by a chink studio
F
>>159474196
>>159474285
Make us 3. It could have been better. But I like what I got in the end. I think it's unironically a better last show than Gangsta
>>159462060
I WALK TEN THOUSAND MILES
>>159471151
welcome to /a/. Now kill yourself
Further proof that anime is going the way of the dodo.
>>159475033
TEN THOUSAND MILES TO SEE (YOU)
>LoGH made by Artland and Magic Bus
>Artland died doing porn
>Magic Bus now does porn
RIP In Porn Production I.G.
Thank you for all the Mushishi, you glorious bastards.
Gainax is next.
This is the beginning of the end.
>And we broke;_;
>>159479191
Gainax announced a new production this week, which is really fucking weird seeing how they got their ass sued by Khara.
>>159479277
Yeah they still need to do Uru in Blue. It sounded like that was going to be the main thing they'd do for a while.
>>159462060
When you have made only 1 good show in 20 fucking years
>>159462060
>The company lists Artland's debt at 298 million yen (about US$2.62 million)
jesus, the yen is African tier currency
>>159480179
Not really. It's a widely traded currency.
KyoAni wins once again.
>>159462060
Serves them right, that's what you get for making an adaptation sequel of a manga that ended years ago with no appeal to the mainstream anime audience and no hope to move goods.
>>159462520
>so a mediocre booby anime was their last.
Wow, that's some sort of tragedy. What a legacy.
>>159475264
>welcome to /a/
Pretending to be an oldfag just dates you as a newfag
>>159462060
Huh so the rumour was correct. When I made that thread I was still quite unsure.
>>159473108
>OP characters are fine even when their op reason are bs your just jelly a shitty self insert is lame
They are both equally shitty friendo, i though this was a 18+ site not a 5years old defend edgy terrible stories cause they are cool
THE PAIN AND THE PLEASURE
ALL COME TOGETHER
THERE IS A REASON WHY
>>159483264
Because they didn't make enough money and made shitty decisions? Its a business.
>>159483134
Said the actual kid who starts throwing insults just because people like what he doesn't like
It's pretty obvious you just want to shit on Dies and whoever defends it. So don't act all high and mighty
Nothing you've said has even come close to being an argument
Mushi-shi was excellent, RIP
>>159462060
RIP
No it fucking cant be
>>159462702
No, if people start tolerating retards like you there won't be any reason for sending people to /v/ anymore.
>>159462652
And then what? Wait 2 years until they fuck up again and throw another 2.5 million away?
Kids who have never held a job shouldn't run around trying to spend other peoples money.
>>159464884
>I will pay you under the condition that you make no money from my purchase
I'm sure they'll be happy to follow your advice.
>>159462701
Western influences are evil, anon. Keep them away.
>>159471151
You're trying too hard to sound smart.
Why can't another studio make new Mushishi anime?
>>159485287
Cease these memes, Mushishi is done.
>>159468659
AAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHH MERCURIUS YOU MOTHERFUCKERRRRRRR
>>159464745
That's big business in a nutshell, really. It's all about who you know.
>>159467126
> Ninjas in not-Hooters outfits
Oh my.
>>159484586
Yeah, right. Because it is completely fine for an adult to buy overpriced Japanese cartoon, right?Cuck.
>>159462060
Well, at least Mushishi was fantastic, I'm glad that they didn't cut corners with the second season and movie.
>>159464745
>>159462652
People sink 2.5 million in terrible art because they're used as a medium to funnel drug trades, precious tripfag.
>>159472944
>LoGH had a terrible last quarter
Shut up.
>>159486966
No. It was bad, don't make me rewatch, I haven't done so in several years.
>>159462532
didn't they already merge with some Chinese company? I mean I guess it wasn't enough if Artland went down not half a year later, but still, it does boggle the mind.
Oh man, going down with Sin as your last anime is terrible. At least Gainax manage to do C3-bu, Houkago no pleiades, and are working on the new Matsumoto's movies.
>>159463111
>>159486961
How exactly does that work?
>>159488115
>C3-bu
This was just terrible. Not even the threads saved it for me. Even worse when Sabage-bu came out later being everything I wanted C3-bu to be.
>>159488288
>I wanted it to be
This is what's wrong with you. It was a trainwreck, it didn't go in the direction you wanted, it surprised you, and that was its charm. I guess you'd hate Code Geass as well if you were here back then to watch it.
>>159488483
Fair point. I wanted to connect it as a post watched thought, kind of "ah this is what I wanted C3-bu to be after finishing Sabage-bu", but it didn't turn out right.
>Code Geass
I watched S2 with /a/, does that count? Not a great show, but one of the most entertaining ones for sure.
>>159488647
It's okay. I thought you are a mangafag who were butthurt for the original anime.
I also watched S2 with the board. Your definition is pretty on spot. People should realize that stuff doesn't need to be objectively perfect, it needs to be entertaining.
>>159486622
Updated
>>159465839
I'm sure paying animators shit is a nation-wide thing in Japan.
It is officially owari da.
Only lolicon, fujo and yuri shit pandering will survive.
>>159487780
Yeah a Chinese animation company made a fairly large investment but I guess they thought the studio was a lost cause and they decided to just make their own anime because they have since animated "anime" shows.
>>159489126
You have no idea what you're talking about.
I guess fanservice shows doesn't sell after all.
>>159491207
I don't think it has anything to do with sales of the show. They weren't invested in the production at all. It's just a case where like any other business they had less coming in through contracted work in earnings than their outgoing costs and couldn't keep up with the debts they had so shut shop. The majority of time studios aren't invested in their productions so the success of those has very little to do with their immediate financial well being.
>>159491207
Any other groundbreaking news?
>>159491207
Depends on the show, TLR got four seasons and a bunch of OVAs.
>>159484461
No fuck off, stop derailing threads you retarded aspie and your "muh /v/ boogeyman" shitposting Jesus Christ
>>159489450
Yeah, I noticed, they always seem to go to other companies for it, and usually those in Korea if they can get away with it.
