Besides some exceptions, romance in anime is generally extremely frustrating to watch for a bunch of reasons
>A kiss will rarely happen
>Relationship will rarely consolidate
>They will tease you EVERY fucking episode for the entire fucking series but in the end, it will go nowhere
>Plenty of cute or emotional moments that something could happen, but nobody does anything and we're back at square one again
>MC is either so clueless or so tsundere about his crush that you want to beat him up
Japs must love to torture people. They just tease, tease and tease, but don't deliver.

It's just the culture that Japan has. In the west you find that the majority of the audience expects that things will be explained and shown bluntly to them. Japan is the reverse, which relies on the viewer to fill in the gaps themselves.

There's many examples of cultural differences that may seem strange to westerners. For example, in most western countries you are expected to accept a compliment from your significant other or boss. While in Japan, it's seemed as arrogant and faux pas to do so and you're expected to downplay or outright deny any compliment you receive.

You should watch it if you have not. After you finish it you will be wondering why Anime doesn't drop the whole "will she/wont she?" for 10 episodes shtick. There's more emotional maturity in an anime about discovering emotional maturity in middle school than there is in 90% of "High school/college" romance anime.

I'm well aware of that and do find some aspects of japanese approach to romance appealing. Like for example, the details and subtleties have more weight in their stories, or how the relationship seems like a way bigger deal compared to western media which trivializes romance and relationships in general. However, I just want some sort of development or consolidation, is that too much to ask? I don't need to see them having sex and saying they love each other at every second, I just want to see they saying that once and I just want to be sure they will be together after several hours of build up.

It just leaves a bad taste in your mouth to have episodes and more episodes of build up and teasing to end up in nothing.

This. The more buildup with the couple throughout the series just makes the end that much more painful when absolutely nothing happens between them.
It's a case of, why did they even bother putting in all that teasing when nothing comes out of it, sort of thing.
