Yes and no, to be honest.

Each character has their own Skill, with Yusaku's basically gaining new cards from the Data Storms related to Cyberse.

I think its kind of annoying how he keeps getting new cards as a result, but at least he actually keeps them as permanent additions in his deck instead of just being one-scene wonders, and we're pretty sure the next one is gonna be when he gets his real ace monster to replace Decode Talker.

Everyone else's are more mild and don't gain cards. Its not particularly good in Yusaku's case, I think, but it could be worse.

It's not like this is anything new. YGO MCs have always been able to pull cards out of their asses whenever it was convenient for them. Yusaku just happens to be one of the few cases in Yu-Gi-Oh which the plot gives the protagonist an explicit excuse to do so.

In fairness, the guy who has to write all the duels had to keep 20 things in mind from the Extra Deck throughout all of ARC - V. I'm surprised he didn't just jump out a window after so long.

I genuinely really like VRAINS' duels so far, with Yusaku vs Aoi showing off just how lethal the Trickstars are and why they've been topping in Japan.

Only like half the episodes have duels though, it seems to be focusing more on building its plot while paying off for it with decent duels. Only time can tell if that's gonna pay off for VRAINS though.

VRAINS' formula has basically been this: one setup episode, followed by a dueling episode. Aoi's two-parter focused mostly on her offline for part 1, then part 2 was the duel between Playmaker and Blue Angel. My memory's a bit fuzy but I'm pretty sure the duel with Go started at the end of part 1, but the vast majority of the duel was in the second part. I was surprised when episode 1 had no dueling.

So far its worked good, hopefully it stays that way.

Might as well look at Pot of Riches for generic Draw and Painful Decision for generic Normal Monster search, both Cards avoided supporting Exodia for a Reason.
Anytime generic DARK Spellcaster Support or Normal Monster Support is involved Exodia is looked at.

The Zarc Magicians certainly have Exodia enabling combos, but they aren't even in the same league as Firewall which allows setting up Extra Link lock or an FTK by opening with a single card. I can totally agree on Extra Link being a Problem, that´s a Mechanic that was really not needed.
I do think the Errata on Cards like Dewloren not being able to bounce himself anymore, which killed off half of his Loops are decisions that could be made on FTKs.
Well FTKs were never really a problem anyways, closest things to that in a competitive Scene were Dark Strike Fighter/Rescue Cat or Wind-Ups in a Way.
Trickstars are also quite impressive with their similarity to Greed Burn.
But I can say with certainty that Firewall isn´t as bad as Norden in that regard, he was really disgusting with Re-Fusion.
I do think the Fact that it still takes 4 Monsters to make isn´t reason enough to ban it, but a change to Extra Link would be appreciated.
