How the FUCK will the SnK anime deal with the political arc? Is there any other example of a manga that got animated that was sort normal action for most of its run but then the author tried to make it a legitimate manga with a complex plot with intrigue, betrayals, assassinations, all that sort of shit?

It doesn't seem like it would even fit the current tone of the anime and they could lose lots of fans if its shit and the tone totally changes.
