They could have introduced so many quirky characters with creative magical skills like that one vampire chick that turns her hair into a bat and made even episodic plots about the interactions with them. We could have had an entire episode about Lotte's spirits doing some shit, or the girls encountering even more mythological creatures. The sleeping Sucy episode was cool because they were trying to lift a curse while being all looney tuney.

"The sky is the limit" doesn't mean "go fight using galaxies as shurinkens", it means going further beyond in their creativity.

With complete sincerity and waifu jokes aside, I just really liked OVA Diana's few minutes because it was as threedimensional as a character with such little screentime can be.

It was obvious from the beginning that if they continued with the story, she was going to have an arc. And she did when the tv anime started, but they focused so much on making her absolutely likeable and the japanese ideal that she lost most of what I liked about her in the first place.

They watered down the character I was looking forward to see the most when they announced the show.

Guys I'm a little bit afraid for Croix.

The thing is that Diana being mean was already a leftover by the time the AnimeMirai OVA rolled out. Her official profile said that she is dignified and usually just ignored Akko pretending to be her rival. Yoshi dropped " foil Diana that only existed to make Akko look good" from the draft.

I actually find Diana a really interesting character in all her incarnations because her gap and development is very meta.

The contrast between serious Diana and soft Diana isn't as big as the OVAs. Diana never looked like a bad person while actually being very responsible and deep down even good-hearted. She was just very reserved about her personality and at the end she let herself be more friendly. OVA Diana was an elitist and believed she was above Akko not directly because of her skills, but because Akko was so childish and didn't try to study harder. But she also cared about the safety of the students and was embarrased to show her childish self. TV Diana comes off as hiding her love for Chariot because of her responsabilities being more important than her dreams, while OVA Diana is afraid of the opinion of her peers and thinks dreams are for babies like Akko.

OVA Diana is just a decent tsundere; reminds me a bit of Iori from Idolmaster. She is proud and snobby, acts means towards people she considers foolish but has a strong sense of responsibility and ultimately wants whats best for everyone. TV Diana I actually find a more complex character; OVA Diana is elegant and acts like preppy girl, but TV Diana is more dignified, pensive and it always feels that she isn't saying what she is thinking; TV Diana also uses some light sarcasm as her main way to interact with other people in order to distance herself.

That being seid, I think the reason both OVA Diana and TV Diana were harsh to Akko was that they were jealous of her ability to express her love of Akko freely.
