It's surprising to see all the established series topping the magazine after getting used to the new ones being at the top but I think that just means most of the magazine is in a pretty good place right now, I'm fairly satisfied with most of the series

Marie getting cancelled doesn't bother me and hopefully Bokutachi goes too but Robot better fucking stay, it's definitely in the Top 10 series right now

I'm really starting to suspect Gintama will still be ongoing early next year and I feel like Sorachi is extending it out so much because he feels sorry for everyone who loves his series or who gets work based off it

It makes me wonder about the ranking for next week's chapter. The conclusion to the tengu arc was more so civil than action-packed
>>
>>159362791
In context, Robot could still be huge, pretty sure we don't know the sales for its first volumes but Kuroko had very similar rankings to Robot for like 100+ chapters and it still became one of the best-selling manga of all time

So I'm pretty sure they will prioritize it over some other series that do poorly for a while at least

You know what, I hate that you guys got me to pick up that series (it, HunterxHunter and Soma were the only current series in the magazine I didn't read) because now I'm caught up and realized I'll never get any resolution to any of that stuff

It's an extremely unsatisfying series as it is now, because it's fun but it's ALL just set-up for the epic saga that's just about to happen but now never will

Any series that gets too fanservice ends up being pushed to the botton due to ... well people dont want to vote for those.

Its safe as volumes still sell, heck TLR was at bottom during its original run on Jump because of that.
>>
>>159366397
Never gets ranked, it's always at the back when it doesn't get a color page. It's not exactly a series they generally feel the need to promote too much in the magazine because everyone who cares knows its returned and there's no sense overly promoting something that'll disappear in a month again. It uses the magazine, the magazine doesn't benefit from it.

He respectfully and cheerfully congratulates him? That's more than enough. Kishimoto is Oda's personal friend, Kubo is an acquaintance and colleague.

Why youtube? Because you are parroting rumours originating there.
>>
Bokuben is so fucked.

At least Dr. Stone is doing well.
>>
>>159368309
????

I know you're just pretending to be retarded but why should the most successful mangaka of all time have to bend over to congratulate every other person who ends a series? He gave credit to Kubo, when he didn't have to...the ones he gave covers to were close personal friends of his who first became successful in the magazine at the same time as him (Kishimoto and Shimabakuro) and the one guy who had been in there longer than him (by twenty years)

If you want a comparable reaction for Bleach you'd have to wait for Gintama to end because that's Bleach's contemporary

>>
>>159368309
Oda and Kishimoto are good pals (Kishimoto even promoted OP in the last chapter) whereas Kubo and Oda aren't; of course he's going to react differently to both series ending. Kubo actually revealed in his recent JUMP interview that he was struggling a lot with his health during the last three years and found his shoulder tendon was fucked up after he finished the series so I think Oda's resting comment came from a sincere place.

However, Kubo and Sorachi are good pals.

>>
Neverland will have its 10th color page this year next week. Which is really impressive since we're only a little past halfway done with 2017. In 2016, Hinomaru had the most color pages at 13, and Neverland is on track to surpass that handily.

Stone.

Kinrou is perplexed by the soap bubbles while Ginrou sees Senkuu as a genius magician when Chrome enters the scene. Chrome says that making soap bubbles is an easy thing to do if you just use charcoal. The new founded group changes the location to avoid bothering the village and it comes to a witchcraft showdown between Senkuu and Chrome. Chrome turns out to be a magician who can freely manipulate fire. He throws some powder into the fire and it changes its color to yellow. He proceeds to change it to blue, green and even purple. Kohaku, Ginrou and Kinrou are mindbroken by his brilliance, but Senkuu doesn't care at all. He explains that the fire is reacting to the powder, obviously, and that it probably consists of Copper powder, salt and sulfur. Senkuu guessed everything right, so Chrome decides to go all out. He brought some ball-like stone from the storehouse and begins to rub it. He then attaches it to Ginrou's face and it sticks. Ginrou is surprised by the electricity that is produced that way. Senkuu proceeds to explain this phenomen too and says that people knew about since the 17th century already. He asks Chrome if he figured this stuff out on his own. Blablabla. It ends with Senkuu winning the witchcraft showdown and obtaining Chrome alongside his storehouse!?

>>159382290
True, I don't read it. So I also don't dislike it. It's just so irrelevant and sells like shit, so I think it'd be better if it got canned, there would be place for a new series.
>>
>>159366397
Because it's shite

Boku-tachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai better not die. It's been a while since I've had this much fun with a series.

I hope it dies, it is shit.

It's too soon to tell if Cross Account is gonna die, never trust Japan shit taste.

That's a mean thing to say, Anonymous.
>>
>>159382802
If Fumino doesn't get chapters what's the point.
>>
Well the last chapter of Cross Account wasn't offensively bad. It was just generic and meh. The first 2 though. Those were legitimately worse than anything U19 did.
>>
>>159369070
Do you really think togashi would draw more pages just cause it's monthly?
>>
>>159381348
You don't understand how the magazine works, nice try though, the author's last series was terrible for rankings for years and lasted for almost 300 chapters

The rankings are made up, if it gets good sales they can just put it further ahead and no one will question it you know
>>
>>159382896
At some point he was drawing manga weekly.
>>
>>159382772
That's what worries me. I think the first chapter of CrossAccount was offensively bad, while the rest just settled into bland and uninteresting.

Which will probably make the nips eat it up.

If Demon's Plan could get canned in just 12 chapters, I'll hold out hope for CA to get the axe.
>>
Are the sales out? I doubt any of the newer things ranked after 1 day.
>>
>>159383140
Kuroko had mid tier rankings which is enough to survive, if robot doesn't improve in 10 weeks it's dead.
WSJ 2 million per week sales > vol sales
>>
>>159383935
>Kuroko had mid tier rankings which is enough to survive, if robot doesn't improve in 10 weeks it's dead.
Keep telling yourself that, not when it had a 200k first print run.
>>
>>159383140
That's because Fujo hax mostly.
Shueshia won't axe a series that can get Fujo's attention, since it's a particularly lucrative market, and when HQ did hit Kuroko was already old.
Remember that Ranking>>>Sales, even if the rankings are mostly made up and the sales are in the 100k or more range.
Hell, Shueisha's editor are famous for canning series with that sold an avarage of 500k.
Still, even if it has all the "requirements", RxL won't be canned, at least this round.
>>
>>159383981

>>159384372
Dr. Stone has two popular creators doing it, and it had a small print-run.

WSJ believes Robo will be a huge hit for whatever reason.
>>
>>159384062
>Hell, Shueisha's editor are famous for canning series with that sold an avarage of 500k.
Famous among communities that make up complete bullshit like "Bleach was cancelled"...none of these things are based in any sort of consistent logic, let alone truth
>>
>>159384435
>two popular creators
The writer hasn't done anything since Eyeshield 21 ended. Bouchi is moreso prolific than popular. Also Dr. Stone only sold out on Amazon and is ranked 9th in Digital sales there's no reports that book chains sold out physical copies yet.
>>
>>159384435
You have to remember Boichi's popularity is from an entirely different audience that has nothing to do with WSJ so that doesn't say anything and Inagaki is a writer of a popular series, there's a difference between a successful writer and artist, there's plenty of highly popular writer/artist duos in WSJ history where the artist went on to have another success and the writer was forgotten
>>
>>159362726
Do you think it's coincidence or the reason for their success that during its Golden Age, Jump series were basically aimed at adults? Did new generations just get less mature or did the manga market get so large that all that old stuff is now marketed to different niche crowds and older people stick to seinen manga magazines?
>>
>>159385175
I think that you have no idea what you're talking about and just think you do because you are mentally challenged.
Dragonball, Makibao, Luckyman, Nube, Jojo, Tsubasa, Dragon Quest, Jungle man, Ninku, etc etc none of those were aimed at adults.
>>
>>159385335
I guess, I don't feel like the sort of stuff in those manga would appear now like all the explicit sex stuff in Tar-chan and the drama in Makibao felt so heavy compared to a lot of modern stuff, I'm just saying the stuff from those days made me feel like blowing my brains out vs. now when it's just a few tears, obviously there's exceptions in both eras but that old stuff feels much more adult generally but I can't retroactively have a kid's perspective so I don't really know
>>
Where is Poro? Dead already?
>>
>>159385606
hah! it's already dead and over
you can find the raws of the last chapter somewhere
>>
>>159385606
It was cancelled a few weeks ago.
>>
>>159385606
Totally blew its load, nothing worth remembering, completely threw away all of its initial appeal

In the end he's an adult married to the demon girl and they have a baby, I doubt the author even wants to come back to the magazine
>>
>>159363364
Nips are gay, thats why theyre going extinct.
>>
>>159385754
>>159385692
It was bound to happen, but I still had a glimpse of hope. I'll look for the raws in the archive, thanks.
>>
The ranked RxL chapter was kinda boring.
It gets a lot better after autism-kun joined the club and showed his autistic side to everyone.
>>
>>159386050
At first the series was carried by the great autism-kun character but I agree that it's much better now that he's in the club

Kuroko's best point was all the varied characters and their relationships after all, nice to see a series about Midorima this time
>>
>>159385798
Has there ever been a mangaka that got sobutthurt over getting cancelled that they didn't even bother to come back?
>>
>>159386809
How would we know? There's so many who never came back.

I think Yoshio Sawai is the first example that springs to my mind but in a case like that, you also wonder if they just realize the weekly pace is too exhausting and don't want to go through that again.

That said, a lot of people who got cancelled in WSJ over the years then went on to be successful in other Shueisha properties so I think some of them use it to get their foot in the door and then go somewhere else. I don't feel like the Poro author was really that interested in doing a weekly series.
>>
>>159386050
>>159386246
For me it's the opposite, the series "jumped the shark" introducing the club, if I could say this since it wasn't a good manga to begin with.
>>
>>159367925
>20. Kiss x Death 5

Nips not only choose mediocre shit over good stories but they even pass up the fun mediocre series for the absolute worst.

I swear to God. I'm going to die before Yasuhiro actually finishes a series, aren't I?
>>
>>159385798
>initial appeal
What initial appeal? All I saw was exactly Spring Weapon's premise except with a demon instead of a robot. It was literally the same premise as another on-going series that was first by a few months. I don't get what the guy was thinking. Why directly butt heads like that? Did he think he could win? I don't know about the quality of Spring Weapon after the Jump Start 3 chapters but still you'd think authors would try doing something that isn't already covered or at least have a different premise if within the same genre.
>>
>>159389482
>authors would try doing something that isn't already covered or at least have a different premise if within the same genre
but trying something new is risky
and how ready are the readers to accept something new or something which tries something different?
Black Clover reapeats the same old cliches we've seen a thousand times over and over again and works just fine
tell me, which of the series covered in Shonen Jump do something new which we haven't seen yet?
>>
>>159389945
>which of the series covered in Shonen Jump do something new which we haven't seen yet?
He's going to say Neverland and then we'll point to the plethora of adventure manga that came before it.
>>
>>159389482
Its just salty faggots and fujos
>>
>>159389945
I don't mean unique and never seen before. At least different. It could be a skin of something that previously existed but isn't currently running. But it's like this guy came in with a manga called Two Piece starring Muffy who wants to be the queen of the Vikings with her crew the Stickhats.
>>
>>159389482
I liked the guy's demon doctor oneshot, and so did some of the other people who were looking forward to Poro. Too bad he didn't serialize that instead of Spring Samon 2.0
>>
>>159389482
>>159390485
yeah, the demon doctor was cool and would have worked a lot better
it had acute mascot, an audience surrogate with the werewolf guy and a MC who seemed pretty cool and levelheaded and could take a shitton of abuse

Different time, different standards for what's acceptable to show to a young audience.
>>
>>159389482
It takes time to get a series approved for serialization, he probably came up with the idea before Spring Weapon even started. It's not like Jump came to him and said "okay your new series starts in three weeks so decide what you want to do". Of course, it's such a tired premise that it's not really that surprising there was another series similar to it running at the same time.
>>
>>159392879
I'unno... Spring Weapon has been running for well over half a year now. Surely they must have noticed the similarities during that time.
>>
>>159390339
To be fair, that's editorial's fault, not his, he probably wasn't aware of Spring Weapon until after he was already going ahead with Poro
>>

Cross Account needs to die. There are few series i can recall reading the first chapter of and hating that much

Color page this week.
Here's hoping Fumino plays a bigger role in it rather than having 50% dedicated to Uruka.
>>
>>159391146
The tone and subject matter doesn't fit well with weekly jump desu. It's more of a SQ or Jump+ material; he would've been successful if he batted there instead of WJ.
>>
>>159393554
>Fumino plays a bigger role

I want to believe.

Souma's really more of a battle harem manga in disguise. I don't know about most people, but I usually read cooking manga for healing/recipes rather than to see someone win a contest by using ketchup.
