That's not how it works.

First, she didn't "buy" the beef stew. This is not a financial transaction because they are not equals. She is gifting gold to reward her Subject, as a generous benefactor. The gold isn't buying anything. In return, the chef pays his Lord tribute, in the form of a pot of her favourite beef stew every week. The stew and the gold are two separate things, not related to each other. The Chef is not in any position force a dragon to pay him anything, this is an unequal relationship. The dragon gave him gold because she was happy.

As for the four gold coins, if we go with the standard 8 grams per coin, she is paying at least 300 dollars worth in gold value from Japan's pov. However due to medieval economy and purchasing power disparity, she is technically offering gold that has ten times that kind of purchasing power, so it is at roughly $3000 in the Fantasy World side for what you can buy with it.

Anyways, continuing on with what I said, the only way I raised by Vitamin D3 levels was from pills and not from diet.
