Not really. Ghibli is a lot more whimsical and lighthearted, plus mostly told from a youth's perspective. Mushishi is far more personal and told on a much smaller scale

Have you watched Master Keaton? Very much like Mushishi in that it's an episodic series with self-contained stories, mostly about the titular character going from country to country helping strangers, friends and clients with everything from repairing a village irrigation system to dismantling a bomb in a shopping center.

No fanservice or cartoon violence shit, so it's super grounded the same way Mushishi and Monster are

It's one of the most beautiful peices of art I have ever witnessed. The depiction of a world that includes yet another part of life not directly under humanities control that causes conflict and emotional situations. Certain people like ginko attempt to find a way for humanity and this other form of life to co-exist, though the power of education and observation though not every attempt succeeds and sometimes leads things to being worse off than they were before.

You have that simple concept supported by amazing visual direction, musical composition and sound design and in the case of the English dub an absolute 10/10 vocal performance by Travis Willingham.

I've heard from people I've showed it to that they also found it slow, but to say it's bad does it a huge diservice. Keep to your attacking titans and erotic manga senseis, these shows are for the grown ups.
