Why does the childhood friend never win?
Technically she didn't lost either.
>>159289041
Did the flat girl already win in the source material?
Damn.
>>159289070
Oh, so is this one of those cop out endings where no one wins? What a load of bull.
>>159289070
*lose
Fucking hell always the same shit.
>>159289041
They're just being true to life. Think about it, did you get together with your childhood friend?
>>159289143
>implying any of us even had a childhood friend in the first place
>>159289041
Why is she so fat?
>>159289295
She's not fat, just a little bit chubby.

The childhood friend's role is to show how the main character has matured and grown. They move beyond their comfort zone and towards adulthood by finding a serious romantic partner, while staying with their childhood friend would represent a failure to advance beyond their youth.
The childhood friend usually has a sense of entitlement assuming they'll magically end up as a couple because they've always been together. This and the fear of making a big change lead them to never make an initiative.

They do, sometimes. It's just a pretty shit and therefore unpopular type (ironically it's the opposite for americans).
You know who never wins in any harem? The token loli.
>>159289143
No. Although I left my hometown in primary, I missed the part where I moved back after being gone for over a decade. Because I'm not an animu character.
norin s2 never
>>159289041
because the former idol has betterfeetthan the childhood friend, in the eyes of the MC at least
>>159289041
Lurk for 3 years and watch more anime.
So the viewers get on with their life and don't live in the illusion that the girl they liked as a child would eventually appear out of nowhere and marry them.
>>159289366
AKA: She's fat.
>>159293530
Fat is justice
I did have a childhood friend but I'm not gonna pretend it's tragic or that I'm cool or anything like that.
she was the daughter of one of my dad's friends who lived in the same apartment building as me. we even went to the same school and my family used to joke about how we would be together later in life but the truth is we just drifted apart. I think she still lives in my old childhood guetto.
the funny thing is that the same thing happened again in high school. same story, different girl. both times I vividly remember not having any feeling for them girls.

LN is still ongoing, latest volume was published last October
>>159289143
My childhood friend is a fucking hot journalist
I don't think she even remembers my name
I really wish S2 of No-Rin would come out.

She supposed to be an obstacle for the real main girl/winner
real winner is supposed to get over the hurdle of trying to win the bowl without having known the bowl near as long as the childhood friend.
Because she had a 12+ year head start and didn't make use of it. Bitch only started to show interest when other bitches did.
