I like the idea of featuring young directors on board the project. Hopefully they're given the creative freedom to express themselves. The coloring in the trailer looks inferior to the original's though. FLCL was digitally coloured too, why couldn't they just follow the original colour direction? The new style looks contemporary in a bland way.

Fine by me, it won't change FLCL, and we get more content of something we enjoyed, if it's crap then it's crap and i'll forget about it. In the case that it's terrible i won't have to worry about making a distinction between the seasons since they've added numbers to the titles.

That said, the MC looks bland, everyone else's design looks FLCLish. I don't expect we'll get the same level of animation we got form the original.

For me the biggest problem with the MC's design is by far the eyes. I don't think any character in FLCL has had quite the same kind of generic anime eyes she does. All of the eyes of characters from the original show are really distinct, take the eyes and just the eyes from just about any character, and anyone who has seen the show can probably place them even if you don't tell them the character is from FLCL. Her eyes look like the eyes of many anime characters before her.

I don't mind the headphones since there's a good chance they're just being worn to cover up cat ears.

I don't expect it to match the original, but hopefully it'll at least be pretty good.

The voice work was fantastic, at least as good as the original Jap audio. The original casting director even flew out the US to help with casting the dub. There's definitely some question about the quality of the translation though since they left a lot of weirder small Japanese shit in that almost makes it seem like a fan translation and not a professional job, yet I can't bring myself to hate it due to nostalgia and how it kind of just fits with the feel of the show. Also the thing about Androids and Cyborgs originally being a pun on how you spell Mackerel and its not just the characters for blue and fish next to each other.

I know people who dislike FLCL get called out for being memers and contrarians, but I watched it a few months ago and I really don't understand the appeal.
I didn't like a lot of the characters, especially Haruko. The only characters I could tolerate were the MC, the commander, and the girl with the glasses.
It's been a while so my memory is kinda hazy but I wasn't impressed with the story-line either.
When I finished the show, all I came away with it was a feeling of "oh, thats it?"

Sadamoto is only credited as original character designer (I'm imagining for the cameos and mainly Haruko) and Tsurumaki is a non-descript "superviser" (probably just gave them some details about what they did here and there, basically no creative role).
