Look at the Chimera Arc in Hunter x Hunter. They handled the whole 'it's only been 10 minutes' fucking amazingly. I imagined it being kinda like that, where we shift perspectives in a lot smoother way; and shit being slowed down so that we can get a grasp on how fucking fast everyone is actually going... But instead we get this cluster fuck? I legitimately put my hands on my face when I saw the same damn 18 fighting that bitch being looped like 3 times in a row, let alone all the fluff in the middle like them showing all the characters yet-a-fucking-gain.

I 100% understand why they are reusing so much animation. Anyone who keeps up with the animation production of Super would have easily seen this coming. My problem is though that this occurred in the FIRST episode of the tournament. The hype was at a maximum last week. They needed to make a huge first impression with this episode and then get on with the animation fodder, but they blew it too soon. The NEP has almost no new animation (seriously).

I was exciting going in and I was a fool. I'm 28 now and you would think that close to twenty years of watching Dragonball I'd be quick to recognize padding and filler. It's clear that the shitters from the other universes aren't going to go down without a concentrated effort. Despite not having names they have to be billed as the cream of the crop and it was stupid for me or for anyone to expect that the bulk of them would be DQ'ed in the first episode. The ToP appears to want to throw some focus onto what they're doing so as not to give the spotlight to U7 until it begins to come down to brass tacks.

I was disappointed with the animation quality but I recognize that they're saving the budget for the more impressive fights/characters and can let it go. Frieza in the opening/ending credits and the little commercial cut sequences were a nice touch. The new ED isn't as catchy as Boogie Back but I think I'll grow to like it. Shame it appears to have the same drawn quality as the episode, though. Yuck. Though I liked Gohan taking a prominent role.

#17 jacking off, #18 fighting Widowmaker and Vegeta punching a guy that doesn't appear to give a shit was poor and needs to be addressed/fixed in the next episode. Ever since Whis' explanation that the SSGSS transformation isn't meant to be abused over and over and that each consecutive transformation weakens it overall [which is what contributed heavily to Vegeta's loss to Hit], it's annoying to see Goku use it for a hot second to break a fucking hold. He should've went Level 1 or 2--max. It's like showing your hand prematurely. While the bulk of the fighters assembled already knows about Goku's considerable strength I still find it upsetting that he'd go max out--even if it was for few precious seconds--strictly because of the nature of the transformation. Now he isn't as optimal and that'll be his downfall. But I'm being autistic about it.
