The problem with Vagabond is that he blew his wad with the Yoshioka stuff and went straight into a long period where the story was boring everybody and the art kind of went to shit.

I never read Yoshikawa's novel. I only saw the movies with Toshiro Mifune and the 2003 TV show. I liked the show better, personally.

Because according to the historical account Musashi showed up late and didn't bring a sword so he use his boat's oar or a stick or something and just clobbered Sasaki once over the head.

There are varying historical accounts. All that they have in common is that he fashioned a bokken for the fight (some say he did this deliberately to match Kojiro's sword in length), arrived late (some say that he did this to make Kojiro irritable in hopes of that he'd make a mistake and give Musashi an advantage, and others say that it was happenstance because the tide fucked him over and made him be late) and used the sun to obscure Kojiro's vision (most accounts say he did that on purpose, but very few say that was just lucky coincidence).

I tend to believe the least aggrandized versions, because that's how history tends to be. The match probably wasn't all that impressive. Musashi was probably hung over and just beat the guy to death with a stick.

As a berserk fan I acknowledge this artist his art. Altough I think berserk art is better than vagebond overall this artist is better than miura at drawing realistic characters because of the thin lines while miura uses THICC lines for his awesome art compared to vagabond. Hope it continues for the fans
