I read somebody that said the reason the anime is so bad is because they could never hope to capture all the detail presented in the manga, even with anaimation instead of cgi.

Have you ever been near a historical re-enactment? People in armor stand weird - their legs do a little arch, they have to walk with a slightly longer gate, and their arms don't settle quite right. It's realistic(Well, to a point).

Yes, Miura is a good artist and he's telling an interesting story, but isn't it possible that most people are clinging to a pedestal admiration of his level of skill strictly because they've been conditioned to love the story so much throughout the stockholm hiatuses?

As an example, objectively you can't deny that SnK has proportions and design that occasionally leave much to be desired, but the criticism is rarely voiced because people are mesmerized by the STORY. This is nothing new. Everybody here knows that graphics, design, atmosphere, etc. can only go so far if the foundational story isn't up to par. Mangaka like Miura can clearly draw, but whenever we break out into the inevitable "best manga panels" discussions it is tiring to see everyone trip over themselves to revere him as one of THE BEST artists, period; instead I believe it's objectively more honest to admit he's one of THE BEST storytellers who happens to be *A* great artist.
