I didn't remember the name of this show from a season or two back when I dropped it before when I realized it was a fujo show. It seems ufotable's versions is a bit less about gay swords living together, but I'm sure once ufotable has blown their wad on this battle scene against the army of temporal zombie samurai it'll go straight back to the kitchen. Looking at literature and manga writtten by women for women, and you see that a large number are insanely complicated tragedies where no one was going to have a happy ending. I'm glad that Tonbokiri and Yagen are in this, but what I want is my husband.

I know jack about the franchise besides it being about sword boys going back in time to prevent deviations in history. It was a decent action-focused intro episode I suppose. We get an idea about what the main characters are supposed to do and with some fancy action scenes to draw viewers in. At the very least it was better than the first episode of Hanamaru which was really fucking gay. It was like half the cast dropped their balls in that show.

I like their approach to digital colouring and composite. Its not something you see often in anime and is something different from the usual approach of filling in the colours with the paint bucket tool and calling it a day. Their director of photography has an autistic obsession with lighting. I understand that their Hollywood blockbuster look isn't to everyone's tastes though.

I couldn't join this sperging yesterday because I was in my phone most of the time, but I'll bite it now. Hori looks up to Kane-san in the battlefield but keeps him in check in Honmaru, while him being overly gloomy part of the episode seemed a bit off the other part isn't. There's some gloomy lines though, about how he's inferior to Kane-san even if he reached Toku, or when he's injuried he mentions he could never be someone like Kane-san. I'm giving the benefit of doubt for most part since it was just the first episode and his first mission.

Like I said, it's just the first episode. Nitro+ probably gave Ufo instructions on how to make this work. Horikawa looks up to Kane-san in the battlefield but acts as the responsabile adult everywhere else. Hanamaru showed this, and every other single manga published also did.

I could point more, like the one with Imanotsurugi and Iwatooshi that was hijacked by Yasusada, and there was that silly Kashuu drama with Jiji. Some sorties had silliness in them, like the one with Gine but the ones that were full blown drama were badly paced in my opinion. But, you're right, most of the show was indeed SoL and these were my favorite parts.
