This imagine if Netflix gets all the shonenshit anime.

/a/ would be rid of cancer for 3 months because the shonenfags would be unable to get their anime since Netflix subscribed to the bingewatching model.
>>
When Amazon and Netflix decided they wanted the Anime catalog is the moment CR died.

It's going to be curious seeing CR having less and smaller series every season.
>>
>>159233070
CR already announced 2 new series today which aren't listed on HS schedule yet for some reason. Maybe 3 series if CR also has Yami Shibai 5 which they haven't announced.

One new series today is HIDIVE exclusive so I don't know if HS is going to rip it.

The target audience of Netflix doesn't just watch anime. They watch whatever they want, and they don't have to waste their time watching what is the newest hot garbage from Japan. They can watch it whenever they want, however they want, and they can binge-watch it so that they don't have to wait an entire week to see if the series gets better for them or not.
If there's parts that suck, they can simply fast-forward.
That target audience does not need to discuss the shows weekly with an anonymous crowd of teenagers being angry or wasting their time spamming fanart pictures.
>>

>>
>>159236169
I know HS doesn't sub.
But the fansubbing groups can grab the raw from Netflix instead of the shitty TV source.

>>
>>159236138
Some of them do. And, ripping groups like HS, do CrunchyRoll, Amazon, Netflix, and whatever else is there without problems.
>>159235856
Few people record, HS doesn't, they rip directly, you've seen they release within 10 minutes from the show appearing on any of those streaming sites.
>>159235905
The reason we can't get Fate/Apocrypha and Kakegurui is because Netflix picked them up and their release schedule caters to normies who want to binge watch, so they won't release anything until all the episodes have aired and they've complieted dubs into multiple languages.
Do you understand now? It means no more free translations, someone has to translate, edit, time, typeset and encode, if you want a good quality release.
Most fansub groups are inactive because there's not as much incentive to do this hard work when we're all used to getting it done for free by CrunchyRoll and Amazon and other simulcasters.
The problem with Netflix is that they will pay big wads of cash to anime studios and then sit on them for 3-6 or more months until they have it all dubbed in multiple languages.
>>
If HS dies you're pretty much at the mercy of Herkz and his friends because only they know how to get past the Amazon/Netflix DRM without resorting to capturing
>>
>>159236729
Continued.

Obviously anyone wanting to watch it as it airs can't rely on Netflix and because they paid all that cash you can't have competing simulcasters, so the only one that can do timely releases are fansubbers, too bad most are retired or lazy by now.
Is ripping Netflix worth it for fansubbers as well? Yes, there are higher than tv quality raws on Netflix japan, of course, without english translations.
You can see that Kakegurui has such a higher quality raw on nyaa.si, but no anons timed to it at that time.

Most shows this season except those two will probably get ripped by HS, I don't really know what will happen with Senki Zesshou Symphogear AXZ, because it hasn't yet been picked up by any simulcasters. CrunchyRoll will probably pick it up, but if they don't, I've seen herkz say in commie's channel that they intend to sub it, no matter the simulcast status.
People are panicking needlessly, HS only updates the schedule page when the first episode comes out and they rip it. It's still shit because every show that's getting the shit 3-6month delay treatment or no simulcast treatment was popular enough, I wanted to watch them without having to work for it myself, but it might not be as easy?

All Netflix UHD stuff is HDMI capture which means degraded quality, manual ripping and possible watermarks.

What I'm saying is, ripping stuff protected with hardware DRM is not as simple as it was years ago when anyone could do it because it was all software, you either need hardware to capture it with questionable results or someone technical to provide you with an exploit that needs to be kept private because it can be patched in the future. DRM is moving into hardware which raises the bar significantly.

Same reason why you can't watch UHD Netflix and Blurays on anything other than Kaby Lake CPUs - they don't support SGX.

Piracy won't get killed outright because the compatibility with older devices needs to be maintained but it's possible that in a few years all you'll ever get are going to be inferior HDMI captures (funny how fansubbers used to pride themselves with superior video quality) or 480p rips which aren't as protected due to compatibility reasons.

Got a recent Intel CPU this year without SGX, don't even want to buy one with that crap. AMD doesn't have it either. I don't think the 4k excuse for hardware DRM will fly when modern hardware can play 1080p/720p just fine. Even if they did, they also have to support smartphones, some set top boxes, consoles, some smart TVs, tablets and more. Some of those are easier to attack than SGX.

Netflix is an extremely analytical company and they're data indicates that dumping a TV show all at once is better. I'm not really sure why, since it seems to me that uploading shows over time would result in longer subscriptions on average, but I've never really looked into it.

What surprises me the most is people cheering on the possible death of one of the last pockets of the fansubbing era and jeering relatively small businesses as both get eaten alive by these giant corporations. Do they think they're better or nicer? That they and their hobby will be any less butchered and exploited, or safeguarded from the bottom-feeding lowest common denominator?

Sure it's fun to hate on anime streaming sites, but a plural marketplace breeds competition which is better for the consumer. Netflix and amazon getting their hands on these and hollywood creeping ever so slowly into anime are the shit people should be on the look-out for, not whether or not crunchyroll streams their stuff at a lower quality after release.

I'm another anon from another country. I tried CR a couple of months ago and it didn't have any of the simulcast shows I wanted to watch. I canceled my "free" subscription after about 5 minutes. It wasn't obvious to me from their page, that they had regional limitations. Even after I subscribed, the shows all showed up, but I couldn't watch any episodes and somewhere in the corner was a small note, that the show wasn't available in my country. It might have to do with my language settings, cause I have my OS and localization all in english. So I might see the normal english CR page if not logged in.

>>159243765
oh and just to make this clear, this is in no way the fault of those streaming services. This is sole fault of the content providers with their stupid distribution systems from the last century. It's so pathetic you wouldn't even believe it. They completely outcucked themselves with insane contracts, where they can't or simply won't publish their work in European countries. It's localization companies or dvd / br publishers who hold the licenses in their hands and you can certainly imagine, that especially the ones selling hard copies, have absolutely no interest in streaming.

Unless some new fan subbing teams or the few existing ones start subbing airing shows, you'll have to wait for some of them to finish airing to watch with English subs. Netflix won't release episodes weekly.
>>
How long does it usually take from the start of the tv airing before BDs start coming out?
>>
>>159246404
First one is usually out within 3 months and takes ~9 months for all of them
>>
>they never learned moon
Your guys' fault.
It takes 3 months to learn to understand and read Japanese if you study everyday for 2 hours.
>>
>>159233194
Maybe this will finally force subs groups to make a comeback. Years of relying on CR has made the scene complacent and weak. When Spanish subs get put out faster, you know there's a problem.
>>
>>159233194
What's the problem with this? At least they're getting weekly subs, which will then be ripped and distributed throughout the community for free.
>>
>>159248234
>3 months to learn to read enough kanji to read your average LN

If you were studying 20+ hours a week maybe, and even then you wouldn't be completely fluent since you're basically cramming.
>>
>>159248950
LNs have furigana for non common kanji

>>
>>159243282
There are thousands of shows and movies and cartoons and anime and whatever existing that people haven't watched or seen yet. They can watch it for years and still not be done with it.

Netflix is not for people who ONLY want to watch anime. It's not for people who ONLY want to watch sitcoms. It's not for people who ONLY want to watch scifi-movies.
It's for people who like everything, but don't want to waste their time on watching advertising or waiting a week for the conclusion to whatever stuff they're watching.

It's for people who feel their time is more valuable just enjoying the thing they want directly. People who don't want to see a soap commercial to remind them to buy green soap when they just want to watch that damn cartoon.

ARE YOU A FUCKING RETARD? You want Netflix and Amazon to control anime?
They have shittier translations, shittier video quality, and the worst (especially with Netflix) timelines for release.

The very reason UTW is reviving is because of Netflix. And even now, we remember that UTW has shit sub quality. HS is fully dependent on CR and Funi. Without either of those, we get fucked by Netflix and Amazon.

People are also forgetting that many tons of shows were NOT getting subbed during the fansub years ago. A lot of shows won't get subs if CR and Funi dies, while we keep getting delayed telecasts if Amazon and Netflix start getting market share.
>>
>>159242489
Then you're clearly retarded

Netflix subs are the worst
>>
>>159232785
It started ever since you supported the big guys. Instead of supporting and giving relevance to the small guys around you, you were lazy and just went to the big guy. The small guys shut their shops up and with no competition the big guy starting raising everything up. The result is this, you gotta get it from the big guy whether or not it's a bad deal because you got no other choice. But you might say, I supported the small guys! Too bad, the dumb and lazy don't and guess what, the dumb and lazy are an ever increasing number as populations rise. Ban immigration :^))))

>>
>>159262280
>UTW has shit sub quality
0/10

And CR dying with Amazon and Netflix taking over would mean that more groups revive.
Nobody is going to wait or pay for subs. If those two take over fansubs will come back like UTW is coming back now.

Fansubbers only quit because CR started subbing 95% of all shows around 2012-2013 with releases being available one hour after jap boardcase.
With a service that fast you really don't need fansubbers.
But if Netflix holds people back an entire season and Amazon keep locking out non-paying customers and pirates with DRM -> The only solution is a revival of fansubs
>>
>>159250551
