How does a teacher live by with teaching only 5 kids, one of which is her sister?
I'm pretty sure teachers aren't paid per student.

Her employer is the government, she has the comfiest job in the world.
Rural Japan is in terminal decline, even more so than other rural areas of wealthy nations. At least they have public transportation relatively available (so aren't quite as isolated as say rural America)
She also works the rice fields
>>159229676
And the pole in Sendai on the weekends.
>>159229065
She gets paid the same whether she has a class of 30 or three.
>>159229065
By getting paid, you retard.
Rural areas are cheap as shit to live in.
>>159229612
That reminds me of a story I heard/read about how in one rural town all the children were doing to Tokyo or wherever for college and not returning to the town, so the town council asked some of them why they didn't return to the town and they got replies like "there are no flushing toilets".
The attitude of not fixing what isn't broken seems like it is biting them in the ass because children have to go off to big cities for college and then they don't want to give up the conveniences of the city.

Wasn't there a new NNB project in the make?

She's teaching 3 grades at the same time, that means 3 salaries on top of each other. Kazuho is loaded.

Living in the countryside is extremely cheap

I'm more worried about Candy Shop. She hardly has any customers.
>>159231993
She just has to pay property tax. Everything else is paid off. She'll also use amazon.jp for you so she can get those sweet mark ups.
>>159231254
Eh? Nani ?
Would rural areas such as these be a good place to live? Their portrayal have always fascinated me. It gives the vibe that I can reintegrate with society and become a significant member unlike in cities
>>159231993

It depends on which country you live in, your work ethic, and you dependency on modern conveniences.

Ruralfag here. Yup life is real comfty here. Lots of food, no pollution, cheap living standards, and people really cares for each other
Main problem is that gadgets costs a lot. Jobs are all blue collar. And people tend to be highly illiterate.
I love my place still. Out here, if you have a bike, you are the king of the road
>>159231355
I live on the countryside. 3 dollars can feed me for 3 days. An entire week if you are sociable enough to ask the farmer for more vegetables...which he gives for free

She either inherited enough or is doing something very fishy behind the counter.
>>159232625
Fuck that sounds nice. Rural as in rural japan? Is it common to get foreigners there? I'm finishing medschool next month and just thinking about the jobrush and career prospects feels like I have a tumor in my brain

I'm in a such a densely populated country, even the "rural" areas are filled with cars everywhere.
>>159232664
The only thing fishy she is doing is being renge's only real mother figure.
>>159229065
A candystore whose customers are a couple of children is still profitable in the countryside.
That is why Candy Store Owner hasn't closed up shop yet.
I know a guy who lives in Ehime, japan(literally bumfuck nowhere)
Pays 6000 yen/month in rent for a 3 bed seafront house, landlords are literally begging for tenants so rents are stupidly low
>>159230573
I sympathize. After buying a bidet attachment for the toilet there's no way I can live in a house without one
>>159232248
Some rural towns in Japan aren't really all that far from cities but will still give you the bumfuck nowhere feel and are losing their population, would be cheap as shit to live and still have fiber Internet.
If you have a car then it's hardly an inconvenience.

Rural areas decline in advanced economies, and that goodness for that.

"Decent" meaning like, an hour's drive or less to a station connected to the national network
>>159234492
But with the rise of more effective communications, especially the internet, shouldn't relatives rural areas become more feasible to live and work in?
Although that of course assumes they actually have those modern services available.
>>159234492
>that goodness for that
But who's gonna pick your rice?
>>159234600
We already do, just more efficiently.
>>159234492
>city slickers
ah yes, paying 75% of your income to rent and commuting sure beats buying a nice comfy house in the country.
Even with the income differences, a blue collar worker in the country probably has more disposable income than a city slicker when all is said sand done
>>159234554
>But with the rise of more effective communications, especially the internet, shouldn't relatives rural areas become more feasible to live and work in?
Yes, but since Japanese business practices haven't changed since the 1980's expanding outside of Tokyo/Osaka is unheard of (outside of large-scale manufacturing)
>>159234693
Why would they?
>>159234730

>>159234693
Hasn't really happened anywhere, though. They just haven't figured out how to make telecommunication work, and meanwhile agriculture, mining, and manufacturing continue to get less and less labor-intensive. Modern economy is mostly about providing services to other people and to do that efficiently you generally have to live near them.
>>159234776
*telecommuting
>>159234657
Not that anon. I don't know where you live, but generally blue collar jobs pay absolute garbage in a small town, white collar government jobs is the only way to really live comfortably in a rural town, otherwise you'll live just to pay food and rent.

I think a small story of a man leaving his big company to live in a small town would be interesting. He'd realize he didn't have anything to do and his dream of being a fisherman wasn't going to be enough to put food on the table so he starts doing small jobs. Before he knows it he has a small bustling company.
He had fiber optics a small office and he slowly builds a tiny thriving business but also realizes that he's bringing life back into that town that helped him find the life that he thought he would never have.
Series ends when he realizes that hes been the elected mayor for two months and was invited to accept a man of theyear award held in his honor

I had a huge nostalgia boner for watching this series (ruralfag).
All those countryside adventures. Finding landmines/trench, going to swimming at the lake, finding porn magazines in the forrest, climbing on gravel pit and so on...
>>159236226

That's not so funny though. My father told me quite a few people in his hometown died or were mutilated by landmines from WW2 even after 20 years from the end of the war.

They are low enough in number that the teacher can dedicate personal time for each child. Technically it is better than having one teacher trying to teach 30 kids at the same time like the average asian classroom.
The only thing is the extra curriculum juggling. So lots of quality work but very little quantity. She has to prepared multiple grades worth of material so the before-class preparation would take longer, but it is entirely believable that she would actually finish the teaching way before the allocated time. Once every student learned what they are suppose to learn there is very little point using up all the time left.

What happened to the teacher before Kazuho? The one who taught Kaede, Hikage and Konomi? Actually why did Kaede stay at their small school for HS while Konomi and Hikage are at the city?
