It happens early when it comes to the order the series was written in, but much later chronologically.
In other words, Tanigawa is shit at planning character development when writing it out of order, which is absolutely no surprise.
At the very least, later novels rectify this by actually being written in order.

You're looking at the words and arguing against them without even considering WHY they're being said. Obviously there's everything that happens after the events of Disappearance, but the whole reason that anon brought it up in the first place is that the argument of "it was written early on" doesn't excuse Haruhi's actions in Sighs because plenty had happened between the events of Melancholy and Sighs. At least, that's how I interpreted it.

Fucking hell, some weak bullshit going on here.
Haruhi isn't a relatable character, sure she'd keep your attention, but Kyon's literally the only reason to keep coming back. Robogirl is boring, moeoppai isn't actually a real human being with dignity, and the other guy is probably a gay.
All in all, pretty 7/10 show. Made me realize that I didn't have any friendship like that in my life as a high schooler, nor as a college student, and as I begin my first professional job, I never will either.
Really, I'm kinda depressed that I'm not an influential part of anyone's life and that no one is an influential part of mine.
