The whole Frost Dragons and Quagoa thing wasn't developed enough and massacre felt somewhat rushed. Lizard part at the start felt a little too long. Confirmed my main grip with the volume 4, lizards are honestly do not feel relevant in the grand scheme of things, why do they get so much focus?

Still, this volume had a lot of enjoyable moments, like the dwarven council, Shalltear being Peroronchino, already mentioned be yourself rune masters and Ainz being all spooky. Also, i liked that Ainz and co played more active role here.
I liked it, i am interested in learning how Ainz saving the dwarfs from extinction will affect his reputation and fame.

Okay, let's talk about this for a second.

The manga took 12 chapters to complete the lizardmen arc which if you think about it is almost as many as it took to complete three entire volumes. Generally when adapting manga to anime it's 30-50 pages per episode which puts us somewhere in the neighbourhood of two to two and a half chapters per episode for weekly or one to one and a half chapter for monthly manga, the latter of which applies to Overlord.

If the anime went at the manga's pace then an entire cour would be all lizards.

Now as far as LN adaptations go I'm not so sure since it seems to vary wildly (Rokka no Yuusha did 1 volume in a cour while Haganai did 4 volumes) so I'll just assume the pace of the first season which was 3 volumes for 13 episodes spit into 4, 5 & 4 episodes respectively. So the big question here is how will they divide episodes among three volumes? The thing is I can't see them doing any less than 4 episodes of lizards, but I'm also unsure they can actually finish it with that so 5 episodes would be reasonable while giving the other two volumes a total of 8, but I think this estimate is too optimistinc and we may end up seeing 6 or even 7 episodes of lizards.

Now that I'm not sure I'd be looking forward to and I can't imagine it will be well enough received to warrant a season 3 on any way.

Lizards could be done in time span of 2-3 episodes spread out through first 4 episodes.
Start off with 5 minutes of short recaping, 5 minutes of where we're now and rest of episode 1 introduces the Lizardmen.
Episode 2 is full time Lizardmen, starting from returning to village and to the arrival of Cocytu's army all the way to a 'cliffhanger' ending that cuts off as the armies would clash against one another.
Episode 3 is the ending episode of Lizardmen arc, with finishing the fight and going over Coctuy vs Veterans fight and ending with Cocytus pleading to spare them and Crusch standing before Ainz who's looking full on God of Death before ending in another 'cliffhanger' ending.
Then Episode 4 is conclusion and wrapping up of Lizardmen with Ainz reminiscing the events before moving on to Sebas strolling in the capital, and episode ends after Solution heals Tsure and there's a knock on the door.

The Dwarves were literally filler though. They were an obscure country, which was barely mentioned in previous volumes. We only get a miniscule amount of worldbuilding about their country during the very volume they became relevant. Ainz talked with their leaders for a total of 5 minutes, and that was the last we saw of the Dwarven Kingdom. The plot was not pushed forward at all. Nothing of interest happened in the entire volume. For fuck’s sake, there wasn’t even any mention of the legendary dwarf king who was a member of the Thirteen Heroes. If you cut out the Dwarves, the story would lose nothing.

I mostly liked the dwarf volume because it focused a good bit on Shalltear.

Except for all the character interaction between Ainz, Shalltear, and Aura? You may not have liked that it happened during an arc you consider filler, but a lot of vol 12 was about Shalltear being able to mentally shake off the failure of her MC through her actions, and growing as a character. It is also a story arc where Shalltear and Aura seem to get even closer, so their relationship develops too.

My guess is whoever he last edited or changed before the game went down. So that would explain Pandora's Actor and Albedo's strong loyalty since he was the last one to change their direct settings. And many of the maids might as well because he was the last one to issue orders. Since he was the last member of the guild it stands to reason he might have manipulated the load-outs of many of the other NPCs, especially Shalltear's, since she's on levels 1-3, (changing her kit/mission for defensive purposes). I'm still iffy on Sebas because of his strong personality but it could go either way. Demiurge would probably go to whichever was "more evil" or schemed harder, since he too has a really strong personality. We might even see some of the NPCs not only betray their creators for Ainz but also for other creators entirely if this pans out.

Or they could all just go to Ainz, which is strongly possible.

I noticed that a lot of people in these threads skips over the reasons why Ainz decided to visit dwarfs. You know, the reasons he discussed in the first chapter.
Apart from investigating the player connection to dwarfs(becaude the runes are from the real world) and escaping from Albedo and Demiurge, he wanted to fix his international relationships, which are even worse after his Arena stunt.
I guess that's the reason dwarfs are liked more than lizards, their volume is relevant just by this point alone, despite being a filler.
