Has anyone here read Vol 8 already? I liked all of it except the 2chapters+ prologue worth of FUCKING RECAPS. Kizuna is really something, not only as a character in her own right, but also how her experiences highly contrast naofumi's. Also how they're simliar in that they're not well suited for direct confrontations with people. (Naofumi because of his specialization in defenze, and kizuna because she cannot hurt non-monsters). Also she's really cute, i can understand why glass is so thirsty for her. Though she's far older than what her appearance suggests, guess that's what being thrown in a labrynth outside of time and space can do to you.

Benevolent slavery is very common in LNs because it's an easy way to do 2 things without needing to be a competent writer.

1. Make the main character look like a good person purely by virtue of being nice to their slaves while everyone else is a dick to their slaves. Of course this doesn't really demonstrate that the MC is a good person, just that they aren't complete scum but inverse morality with some rationalization works wonders for the idiots and teenagers that read this trash.

2. Allow the MC to 'make friends' without the writer having to know how to write social skills (because lets face it, LN authors for the most part have no social skills themselves, how are they going to write social skills). If the character is a slave being treated nicely, it's a convenient excuse for the character to become friendly with the MC (their slaver) purely for not being a complete scumbag. This is the same principle as when lazy writers write a character to become friendly with their MC because the MC saved that character's life or because the MC "is such a nice guy".

TL:DR - It's used because it's an easy way to make the MC look good and gives the author an excuse to have the slave character wanting MC dick without having to write any kind of legitimate positive personality and interactions that would lead to a character liking the MC.
