The reason why Kaneki is aging is because he stopped eating ghouls and because he has abused his regen far more than he ever did in part 2. Guys, Kanou has been salivating at the prospect of getting his hands on Kaneki for awhile. I think the manga even mentioned how much he regretted Kaneki being so livid with him that he doubted Kaneki would agree to be operated on and stabilized.

Kaneki has three outcomes possible at this juncture, I think:

>He fights CCG and dies, kanou probably gets the corpse.

>He fights CCG and is captured, maybe Kanou gets an opportunity to work again on his "growing perfection" he's been so obsessed about for the entire series.

>He fights CCG and survives, and returns to Goat and Touka.

Honestly? I don't think it's the first option, because despite Ishida lining up fucking shit tons of death flags. And I mean shit tons, from Kaneki professing love to Touka, the child, marriage, "decisions to choose", and fucking oozing black goo from his eyes the guy looks like he's five chapglters or less from death. Despite those death flags, it would be pretty fucking shitty for the thematic sequence of the story.

Namely Kaneki promising to fight and survive until he changes the situation for all ghouldom, and the change of tone from tragedy to epic- Kaneki is no longer a suicidal faggot, that he would die when he has something to fight for is bullshit. Ishida puts pretty heavy emphasis on the themes of his series, I think he's deliberately misleading us.

While the second option interests me, I'm not sure how realistic it is considering Furuta strikes me as someone who would kill Kaneki at the first opportunity now. Why would he entertain Kanou in such a matter?

Can someone explain why people love Furuta so much? As a side character random card he'd work perfectly but as the final big bad? It feels so forced.
If anything the original OEK or clowns should have been the biggest obstacle, CCG has become a completely different thing. Just like the manga and I feel like Furuta plays a big part in that. It lost the realism and grittiness of the CCG feeling like this elite police squad and now it's some militarized big brother sterilized shit. Maybe I'm projecting but I don't like the choices that were made to get to where we are.
