Just start with the animes. Start with Aikatsu if you want comfy slice of life, or start with Pripara if you want wacky comedy. Pripara's subs aren't complete though, if that's an issue.

Aikatsu is more cute girls and giving you warm fuzzy feelings while PriPara is more wacky comedy.

The original Aikatsu and currently airing Aikatsu Stars are completely separate so you could start with either, but the original is much better so start there. For subs, mezashite and coalgirls are the same subs but coalgirls uses the BDs.

For PriPara, the new series Idol Time PriPara recently started and you could pick up there but you will miss some important stuff from PP. The original PP has a lot of unsubbed episodes in S2 and S3 while Idol Time is so far up to date with subs.

Just watched THOSE episodes of Stars.

Yuzu was fine. I love Yuzu. She's so fun and cute.

Ako's despair was palpable and great, but I wished they'd tied it more to her choices of not getting a Grade-Up Glitter by not abandoning her fans, which was a great episode too. Still, Ako best character at this point.

Whatsherface was kinda dumb. It didn't really feel like a good match or it was hard-won or anything. A better angle would have been "I have to stop idolising my onee-sama and take her seriously, otherwise I'll never be able to surpass her."

The Song class competition was basically a wet fart. There was no reason to make Yume's S4 ni naru story end so quickly. Lily's character arc and this being her last year made her being S4 a perfectly logical conclusion, and then Hime could probably still win. Yume gets defeated and spurred to work even harder. She could beat Rola or lose to her, either would work. Hime still sees some kind of special (protagonist) potential in her and still tells Perfect Elza that one of the runners up has something that caught her eye and or something.

Just finished 53, Kirara and Elza-sama are pretty enjoyable but I'm hearing it goes downhill before too long, which sounds disappointing.

If you say so, I don't agree though. I thought Lily demonstrated adequate skill and the story thus far would lead to it as a reaosonable conclusion, while yes the rainbow cancer forced Yume to git gud, but she got over it before the competition even began. If it had been a constant cloud hanging over her and she finally destroyed the rainbow curse, that would have made it feel more deserved, although Hime still winning would have made it feel pointless.

That makes it sound as though the rainbow arc was entirely redundant, then... but I'd say that's the case anyway.

I think Ichigo should have beat Mizuki at the climax of the entire series only to find out that Mizuki was actually dying of AIDS and couldn't put on the performance she'd have been capable of had she been in full health. And Ichigo barely scraped a win so it's pretty clear Mizuki would have won with one more SSS rank Fever Appeal or whatever she could have usually pulled out.

On her deathbed Mizuki congratulates Ichigo, but for Ichigo it's a hollow victory. She goes on to become the Top Idol, best in the world, surpasses Mizuki's sales records but goes through her whole life unfulfilled with Mizuki being her eternal unsurpassed rival. Flashforward:
