Do you prefer your main characters to be young and inexperienced or already developed?

Why not have a character that goes through both?
Like a character arc, what a novel idea.

i like them to be hundreds of years old
already developed
I think it's actually harder to make a good inexperienced MC than a experienced one.
with the latter you already have a reason to like the MC but with the former it depends on his progression and what virtue he does have

Young, to be honest.

It really just depends on the story but I think generally the best is one that's developed but then goes on to develop a lot more (like Maeda Taison or Kenshiro or Luffy)
But that's probably just because I don't identify with a weakling trying to get strong or whatever because I've never done that and I'm too old to do it now

so you identify with weaklings staying weak huh

How do you not even read the first line on a two line post before replying to it? If anything, I would identify with strong characters getting stronger

Already developed but lazy as shit

Already developed is way more interesting than seeing the exact same generic story of a young inexperienced underdog becoming THE BEST EVAH
